I think Liljegren vs. Kerfoot in that offer would definitely give VAN a chance at taking the deal.
I will prob be in the minority here and I really do like Nylander, I don’t think NJ should do that deal

Isles decline

Can you elaborate as to why? Isles need 1 top 4 left dman. Which Muzzin is. Would fit in really nicely with their team! They are getting him for a 4th liner (a type that Toronto needs). So Toronto sheds cap and gets a 4th liner that would work well for them. New York Solidifies their D by getting the better player but takes on more money. I think it makes sense for the Isles.

Mercer is the number 1 piece in this deal that the Leafs would want. Foote doesn't intrigue me a ton. Unless it's foote instead of Shakir

1. Isles are taking on more salary

2. Muzzin is injury prone

3. Isles just gave Clutterbuck his contract so he’s not getting traded

4. Muzzin has a NTC

5. Muzzin’s impact is questionable due to injury

1. true but getting the better player
2. true hoping he can stay healthy for his sake!
3. People get extended all the time and shortly after are traded so I don't think this is fully relevant
4. He could waive. I see it being a possible. I do think he will return for next year though!
5. He played very well to finish the season and in the playoffs

that's fair! I understand them not wanting to part with him! I do see Willy to NJ as a possibility this offseason.

He isn’t the better player and hoping he stays healthy isn’t enough. He’s a negative asset and you probably need to trade a second rounder and something else to dump him.

I am not sure what his value is. There is a possibility he is negative value but I don't think so. He is just too good of a player. In this AGM I valued him as a minimal value but not negative. I could see a team paying for Muzzin. But we will see. Highest likelihood is that he stays with the Leafs. Mrazek is their only clear cap dump in my mind (probably negative 2nd rounder in value). Holl should net a 3rd. Kerfoot could net a late 1st or a 2nd.

I don’t agree with ur assessment of Kerfoot or Holl’s value and I think most legit writers would agree with me.

Muzzin is overpaid and that’s the reality. I’d rather look at the UFA market before making a trade for someone like him.

What do you value them?

Kerfoot just got 51 pts and is a great pker, super fast. On the open market he would get 4.5-5m a year on a contract. So he is actually good value. Holl is a solid top 6 defender at areasonable cap. He would get 2.5-3m a year on a new contract on the open market.

Not a bad option as well!

I personally dislike the construction of the Isles though. I don't see them being good enough on paper to be a true force. No idea why Lou signed Palmeiri to that contract.

Will be interesting to see what they do!

Kerfoot is worth a late second. Holl is worth a 4th. Muzzin has negative value.

Okay so our assessments aren't complete different. 3rd vs a 4th is very close in terms of value.

There’s a difference between overpaid and negative value. Muzz is only one of them. If he costs to dump, he simply won’t be dumped. It’s as simple as that.
