Is Anderson that much of a cap dump? I’m trying to see the logic why the Isles say no to this

IMO andy is worth about a first. This is just a purely dumb trade for MTL

These are awful. Just let Hoffman and Armia contracts run out or trade them with a year left. You’re giving up a lot of futures to clear about 7M for 1 year and then 3.5M for another. This is awful. Just awful and a clear sign you are obsessed with cap space and have missed the forest for the trees. Lol I swear sometimes people get so obsessed with cap space they will do anything to trade for it

Anderson is not worth a 1st in any way shape or form. I wouldnt take him for free if you wanted to give him to me. Hes scored at an identical pace the last 2 years. 2020-21 he was on pace for 37.8 points in 82 games and 2021-22 he was on pace for 38 points in 82 games. That kind of production from a guy making 5.5m for the next 5 years, this trade isnt so bad and tbh i might not take it from an nyi perspective.

Anderson has scored at a 38 point pace over 82 games the last 2 years (20-21 37.8, 21-22 38.0). Hes making 5.5 for the next 5 years. Idk that i would take this deal. Its a late 1st and a prospect swap.

38 points power forward = 50 points normal player. Habs are not dumping Anderson. Hughes said he would only move him for alot of future.

I guess you could say that Barron vs Bolduc is a prospect swap if you omit the fact that one is a legitimate potential top 4 D and the other looks to be at most a fringe NHLer

Wtf are you talking about. 50 points is 50 points. This is the most backwards take ive seen in a while.

Thats true not denying that at all but at the end of the day thats what it is, plus context matters. Barron wont have a chance to be a top 4 dman with nyi bc of pulock and dobson while we are devoid of LHD.

You'd rather have a 50 points Drouin than a 50 points Anderson?

I think you need all kind of players to have a good team.

Anderson is a 20+ goal power forward. He doesn't get assists because he doesn't carry the puck alot. He hits and shoot.

Yes you need all kinds of players to have a good team. You also have to have good players to have a good team. And a 38 point forward is not good offensively.

20+ goals is decent for a fast 6'3 220lbs 2nd line power forward.

On the Islanders, only Martin and Clutterbuck have more hits than Anderson last year. And they're both 4th liner/AHLer at best.

Pageau, Bailey and Beauvillier all are paid about the same as Anderson. They're all weak 20- goal scorer. I wouldn't trade Anderson for any of them.

But i guess you value them as much as Anderson since they all have 40 points. You don't seem to value qualities other than points.

Lmao martin and clutter are 4th line grinders. Martin is below replacement level but hes only making 1.5m. Clutter is a PKing 4th line grinder whos in the 92nd percentile defensively and hes making 1.75m. Youre comparing apples to oranges. As for bailey hes not good but at least he is still good for 45-50 points, hes a solid PKer, performs in the playoffs. But best of all he only has 2 years left at 5m, anderson has 5 at 5.5. Beau might have been snakebit this year but all the analytics say hes a high end 2nd line winger. Hes fast hes great in all 3 zones and hes really smart. Plus he only makes two thirds of what anderson makes. You wanna talk about qualities other than points look no farther than beauvillier. Palmieri is an interesting one. He couldnt score the first half of the season then got injured came back and was on fire the 2nd galf of the season. He only ended up with 15 goals and 18 assists in 69 games but he had 7 points (including 5 goals) taken away through goals on the ice that were overturned on review. Hes a physical player (kind of a blend between a power forward and a sniper) whos decently fast and is good defensively.
Josh anderson is the biggest one trick pony and youre trying to save yourself on traits other than points. A power forward that cant score on the pp is extremely scary as scoring power forwards thrive on the pp. Hes not fast (he might be fast for a power forward but overall hes not fast) hes not good defensively, and he doesnt drive play particularly well. Hes a mediocre player making 5.5m for 5 years. Thanks but no thanks.
