Kane Cat - CHI input pls

Created by: vikhodush

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 3, 2022
Published: Jun. 3, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Might be unlikely but was just wondering what Debrincat and Kane would be worth if CHI was looking to move either of them. This posting isn't serious, just wanted to see what it could look like and looking to get insight into what type of return CHI fans would expect on these guys.

      DeBrincat is about as available as Zibaneijad was when the Rangers started rebuilding.

      That's what I thought too but weirdly I saw him on a couple of CHI posts on here recently - maybe those weren't CHI fans though. A guy can dream haha

      I doubt Cat gets traded. Chicago has a very good foundation set up for a rebuild already. 1-2 years of bottoming out them climbing back up. I imagine the idea is to compete again while Jones is still in his prime

      What do you think a retained Kane fetches? Even if he wants to finish his career in CHI, best thing for him and the team would be to use him as trade bait this year to speed up the rebuild and let him go to a contender and then he can sign a team friendly deal back in CHI the following year.

      Really not sure Drury and a 1st seems like a probable starting point, maybe add from there for the retention

      I would rather sign someone in free agency than trade for either of those players since they would probably cost too much.

      Except Chicago said the only 2 untouchables for their teardown were Kane and Toews. Cat is available for the right price. It's just a matter of the Price being right

      Kane would need half retention to even start a conversation. Cat though... Necas, 1st, Bear, Heimosalmi, as a starting point perhaps gets Chicago talking? It's a lot but it's also Alex DeBrincat

      Cat = 4 1st or equivalent
      Kane = 3 1st or equivalent

      Neither is going anywhere though.

      That is mainly because there has been a lot of speculation on a total tear down rebuild. In which case, trading Cat and Kane would be our highest value trade chips for helping the rebuild. Also, there have been questions about whether Kane and Toews want to stick around for a rebuild, and a lot of us CHI fans have been thinking it is possible that one wanting out could have a domino effect causing a bunch of players to ask for trades. And then there have been a lot of fans of other teams trying to speculate on the price of acquiring them, which has caused a lot of us to show them what we feel the price should be. But I doubt any of that happens. I could see Toews maybe wanting out, but I don't think Kane or Cat want to go anywhere. But again, trading Cat might make Kane want out and same the other way around.

      Highly doubt Kane would waive for Carolina so irrelevant. Cat is going to cost a boatload to acquire him, and no fan of the acquiring team will like the deal...but that's the point.

      Yep, makes sense. Assumed Kane wouldn't want to come to CAR unless he wanted a run at a cup next year on a contender and then he can go back to CHI since at least for next year it doesn't seem like they'll be in the mix. Totally get the Cat deal too - I've seen plenty of Pesce deals on here where I'm like, the team that tries to acquire him is going to have to massively overpay to get a guy like that b/c of impact, control and contract value.

      Thats not accurate. And that comment was made months before the intern GM tag was removed. Imagine trading one of the biggest names in your franchise history without officially having the job.

      Also Zibaneijad was not untouchable during that NYR rebuild but he was certainly viewed as part of the solution. I am saying DeBrincat is viewed the exact same way

      Zibanejad was untouchable, he was labeled as one of the few that were. But Cat wasn't. Cat was available for trade. You can say the same thing about Cat. Cat could be one of the best players of the next 10 years for Chicago, yet he wasn't listed as untouchable.

      No he wasn't listed as available for trade. The intern GM made a vague and "no ****" statement saying the 3 guys with full NMC's were unavailable. That did not limit itself to to only those players though, but at any price any player without a clause can be available. I bet if New Jersey offered 1st OA in 2019 ++ Zibaneijad could be available.

      You have to understand the situation better.
