Craig Smith isn't the guy for Ottawa imo. Maybe if they brick out on about a dozen better options they circle around like this.

Thnx for your thought / quick response... had a bunch of teams in mind, but assumed somehow his cost effectiveness could serve Ottawa well if they wanted to sign a top UFA aswell!

I don't think you would get a second, third and Dach for taking 11m in 3rd string players back... I think it would cost at least a second and probably a first as well as those players.

Both Klingberg and Trocheck get more money, Klingberg isn't taking less in Boston than what he wants in Dallas. He laugh at that offer.

You’re not getting the higher pick in a trade with Dach and that doesn’t get you close to getting him.

Hawks pass on both trades. They are rebuilding and have a logjam of cheap young defenders so Reilly is useless to them. Debrusk is a 2 year rental turning 26 before the season starts, zero use for a rebuilding team especially since they have to give up a RFA 21 year old prospect....just crazy to think that makes any sense.

I feel your point, I would not want to let go of Dach if I was with Chicago! But if rumours are true, that they are listening, his value will not be in line with his initially expected potential - if there were no concerns about it, he certainly wouldn´t be rumoured out would he! Most GM: s in this league would not call neither DeBrusk, nor (and especially) Carlo third string players - but I get the exaggeration! A suggestion here on the board just recently asked if the Bruins would trade Carlo for Nylander!!! The third to second round pick is absolutely going the wrong way if Dach delivers, but as it stands it´s 'bust'-insurance for the Bruins, who are on the door step of rebuilding.

Yeah, that´s a possible path... but the Bruins have stayed away from those kind of deals and don´t have all their picks in possession!

Yeah, if Dach had proven so far he´s the real deal... adding a first would be expected, but the risk reward does not allow it as it stands. The third to second pick is a slight insurance for the Bruins, who give away a top six forward in his prime and a highly coveted tyoe of defender on a great contract.
