The context of his extension is too relevant to judge.

If the flames are able to get him to extend, say for something like 9.5/8, then they wouldn't trade him for the pick.

If Tkachuk is just going to take his QO and leverages testing Free Agency, then the Devils won't be willing to give up the pick for him.

@Flames fans- is there anyway we can get Tkachuk without including Holtz or Mercer. Obviously 2OA will be included but is there another piece or pieces that would get it done
