if you're only talking about best player left standing, then sure, he has a case (although if I had to pick between Makar and MacKinnon I might still lean MacKinnon, and while I probably take Makar over Kucherov today, it's close enough that a big finish to the ECF by Kucherov could put him back ahead of Makar for me). But McDavid is very obviously the best player in the world, and once again he's shown that it's not even close. Makar is definitely the #1 D and top 5 player though.

Fox basically carries the NYR defense. Cale has a super strong supporting cast with Toews, Girard and Byram while Fox really only has Lindgren and Miller. Toews alone is another Norris candidate.

Calling Fox "really good" is a massive understatement. He is elite and imo the best and most rounded defenseman in the world.

They're pretty close, but the Rangers dcore and the Avs dcore are pretty close imo. You're leaving out Trouba, who has been better than both Girard and Byram this year imo; and I'm a Pens fan lol
