What more do you want for a rental and middle 6 winger that requested a trade? You always talk about how rentals don’t get great returns, but then this offer of a 1st, solid young player in Necas, 2 solid prospects in Morrow and Suzuki, plus Bear and 2 2nds isn’t enough? Show me a rental who has gotten a better return
Hold up: I don’t talk about rentals not getting good returns. I talk about rentals not returning high-end current NHL players, and that’s because they don’t. It’s not a thing because logically it doesn’t make any sense. Teams trade for rentals because they are looking to be competitive, or more competitive, they don’t do that by plucking from their core….filling one hole by creating another. No, its futures for rentals, the way its always been.
This package is a lot of fluff and nothing good. Necas on paper is exciting, but he just looked so bad this year. Totally lost. I actually forgot about morrow. He’s of a little bit of interest. Late first…whatever. A cap dump and a guy that’s not going to get qualified…whatever. Some random fifth rounder from last year…whatever.
This is for two 25 year olds, who are the bruins leading, and third leading goal scorers, respectively. One has led the national hockey league in goals. In regard to a rental that has gotten a better return, well, this isn’t a rental. Pastrnak could be, but its not often the traditional, “Rental,” is 25…..annnddd then there’s that 25 year old with two years left on his deal, who isn’t a rental at all.
Also, how does Debrusk trade request, if its still in place, matter at all?
