Why would Philly trade the guy they seemingly believe in for: a 7th D, a bad goalie that is more or less a buyout at this point; an okay prospect who can't stay healthy, and a 3rd rounder?

he's an okay prospect specifically *because* of the injuries. he looks great when he's on the ice, sure - but a small forward who's only been on the ice for 65 games over the past 2 years because of various injuries is hard to project as a superstar.

Holl was kept in the expansion draft and has value as a 2/3 pairing RHD. Philly has the worst D in the league and needs to add something.

Robertson is 20 and a PPG in the AHL. Immediately becomes the Flyer's best prospect until they pick 5th overall. He can jump into the line-up next year and would be a top 6 forward with the flyer's current depth.

Still can't be cap compliantshakes head Philluy says no, and it's overpay by the Leafs in the Arizona trade. Very weak at centre. Steeves played LW as Marlie.

Justin Holl being protected by Dubas last summer means nothing now. He's a 3rd pair guy making $2M - Philly can get an RHD in free agency to give them the same value.

Robertson has played 65 games combined over the past 2 seasons. He has looked great when he's been on the ice, but he needs to prove he can stay healthy for 70+ games before teams are going to treat him as the centerpiece of a trade.

You're also having the Flyers take back Mrazek's contract in this deal so the goalie swap is more or less cap-neutral - so again, why would Philly just do that for you? Nick Robertson and a 3rd rounder next season doesn't seem like enough of a sweetener for them to take 2 of the contracts ever TML fan is trying to get rid of in one deal *and * give you a starting-caliber goaltender.
