If Pastrnak is willing to sign for $9 million then Boston will just sign him themselves.

so lets say this some how happens ( which it wont) with you 9 mill for pasta and 6 mill for bouchard next season that leaves you with 1.2 mill in cap space and a roster of 16 players...... oh and of that 16 players you have 0 goalies signed.....
what then?

Unless they opt to rebuild. I doubt resigning Pastrnak is an issue if they plan to stay competitive

good teams are always cap strapped. maybe we'd have to bridge bouchard instead, but ceci/gryz/kulak/janmark being moved could be the answer there

Bruins don't need to trade Pastrnak so they should definitely not take an underpay like this offer.

This is the most you'll get for Pasta, 3 mid/late firsts. He's a UFA and if the bruins are rebuilding (they'd be smart to) he wouldn't want to stay through that in his prime

No, it's not and even if it was the case, Bruins should keep him and re-sign him. That's it.

"he wouldn't want to stay through that in his prime" Based on what?

when has a star player in his prime stayed through a rebuild like that? In this era, if the bruins rebuild he's almost surely gone

Patrick Kane, Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, Tomas Hertl about to do it. Not common but it can happen and as of now, Pastrnak has not said anything about not wanting to stay long-term. If it were to happen, then, Bruins should take a decision.

That's true, and yet I think in every case you're talking about the team would've been much better of should they have been traded. Of course Pasta won't want to leave immediately

Pastrnak is only 26yrs old, he's not some 30yr+ old veteran lol. Whether they rebuild or try and stay competitive, he's a guy you build around. The only way he doesn't stay in Boston is if he asks for an insane amount of money or tells the Bruins he doesn't want to be part of the organization going forward.
