They're not buying any one out. Bergeron is going to retire IMO. If the happens Sweeney basically said they are goign to blow it up. Which starts with Pasta. I don't think pasta is going to want to sign long term. I think theres a chance Marchand gets traded at the deadline, but he obviously needs to come back healthy before that happens. with Grizz McAvoy and Marchand missing 20 to 30 games and them selling, this could be a rough rough year.

If Pasta wants to test the free agency, the Kings aren’t interested in rentals. We’ll just try for him as a free agent without losing these massive pieces. Also we haven’t traded with Boston since they flipped Jones to San Jose immediately after trading for Lucic.

He’s 26 with another year, he’s going to be a rental and test the free agency. If Boston is openly shopping him now, he doesn’t owe them anything. Let him be traded to a contender for a 1st and a high prospect. We’ll call his agent after next season ends.

Nothing, but the number of teams with $9-10M cap space and are in their current compete window is a lot smaller than 30. Add to that, next year's UFA market is deep with top-6 players. I'm more ok with risking not getting him for an overpayment this season if we have a chance for free next.
