as an oilers fan i actually think this is a decent trade, you get a young dman for a fair price and a small cap increase, the upgrading the pick to a second to take on kassian is the type of trades i think holland should make. this only happens however if either keith retires or they trade barrie.

the rangers trade however, i think you are off your rocker. no chance NYR throws a first there for that, if anything id argue detroit should throw in the first, and i still dont think NYR says yes.

I've been saying for a while that I think Trouba would waive for Detroit. There are tons of naysayers on this site who will tell you otherwise though. They argue:

1. He has a NMC

Forgetting that he can still be traded if he agrees to it, which he likely would to go back home to Michigan

2. His girlfriend went to school/works in NYC

Healthcare is a booming industry and NYC is not the only place she can find a good job

3. Jacob himself won't want to leave NY

People's situations change all the time. You never know, maybe now a few years later he wants to be closer to his family.

Just putting that out there because people get crazy about any ACGM Trouba trades lol.

Some great trades here. Instead of Sean Held Together With Duct Tape Monahan, might consider trading for JT Miller. Or maybe Middlestadt. Or throwing big money at Kadri.

Or let Chytil try 2C and get a vet like Stastny as 3C.

As a Rangers fan, I agree it's a bit too steep for my liking. Trouba is coming off a great season and is in his prime. The lifecycle of the contract is the only thing that might hold Detroit back from adding but honestly I'd trade Trouba straight up for a 2nd round pick. No Bertuzzi, Zadkna, Kakko, Chytil, etc. You're getting a bona fide 2RHD to play big minutes behind Seider for just a second round pick. I'd love to keep Trouba but we need the cap space and we have Schneider and Lundkvist.

I like that it is a low risk move. If he returns to form he can play the 2C, if not Chytil or Suter can. If he can't return to form he can play 4th line or be scratched. Trading for Miller would cost way too much IMO.

I made sure that the Rangers overpaid to move Trouba because the last few years of his deal with hurt whatever team he plays on. It is hard to pay a 2nd pairing dman 8 million. I think Detroit would move a 2nd for him if the rangers retained 2 mil. I love the idea of Detroit trading for him though, he is exactly what they need right now.

Agreed but it is going to be hard to move Trouba and that anchor of a contract, especially considering he has a NMC. He has the final say where he goes meaning there will be a few teams he is willing to go to, which likely limits the return for him.

Sure, might limit the return but they're essentially overpaying here or even paying to move him, cant see that happening.

I don't care much for the EDM trade. I'm OK with moving Hronek, but I don't think this specific move is good for us (especially if you consider Pulj a 3rd line guy and he comes with a cap dump). I also don't love adding Trouba, who is older than our core and takes some bad penalties which put his team at risk.

If we were to move Hronek, I would want to buy low on Bear to put in the 2RD spot.

If I'm the Jets I asked for a third. If that's a no, and there are no offers anywhere for a third, I take that deal.
