Gibby to WSH

Created by: BackstromIsTheGoat
Team: 2022-23 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2022
Published: Jun. 14, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Both Backstrom (Hip) and Wilson (Knee) are out long term. There is enough cap space left for Wilson to return and potentially get another player at the deadline. I don't think Backstrom comes back before the playoffs

What's with the Joseph trades? Did some rumor come out? Also Ottawa doesn't need Ellers and I would want Snively back in a trade for Joseph.

It's difficult to judge Gibson's value. He's a goalie in his prime years that has underpreformed on a weak team for the past three years. I honestly don't know what he will get but this isn't all that bad of an offer. It might need one or two pieces. But Vanecek is a very interesting piece to get back and could end up being very good.

Sens do not need Eller at all, and the whole reason they traded for Joseph was to bet on his untapped potential, which he immediately highlighted in Ottawa. They won't trade him until they know what they have

Gibson’s value is you think he will be your starting goalie for the next good number of years and you think he solves your goaltending problems, therefore you have to pay to make Verbeek want to deal him

Gibson said he is open to a trade, not he wants to be traded so let’s not mix that up — Verbeek has all the leverage still

He did also say that he wanted to play for a winning team so teams have that in their court though.

We also must remembre that. I would not be suprised to see Gibson traded this summer though. Especially after the trading of Lindholm and Manson

So you think that the difference between John Gibson and iffy 79-games-in-the-NHL Vitek Vanecek, who was exposed in the Seattle expansion draft and re-acquired for a future second, is the 20th overall pick in this year's draft?

    I disagree.

Gibson had a -0.265 GSAx60 this year and has been in the negatives the last 3 years, Vanacek had a -0.140 GSAx/60 and is younger. Obviously, Gibson has been very good, but with the uncertainty of his level of play and his contract, yeah 20th overall probably does cut it. Maybe they add a guy like Leason or a 2nd rounder, but not much more

Which is why Protas is there. He isn't quite NHL ready, but Eller and the 2nd rounder should balance it out.

yeah pens will afford that contract for sure... if he asks 6mil then no but 3x4 is more then affordable for the pens....and he'll probably will want to stay there too

imo a realistic contract could be 4x4.6
