Garland and 3rd for Necas and Bear

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 15, 2022
Published: Jun. 15, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
CAR gets the best player on a good contract, and VAN gets a little younger with some help at C and RHD. The deal is a combo of other Garland-for-Necas and Bear-for-a-pick trades on CF ACGM's.

Also signed Paul to be a checking 3C, but if Necas can fill that role maybe the team saves the cap space. But I like the buffer of having multiple players that can play the middle.

Which part of the deal?

Carolina ACCEPTS in my opinion. Trade would be good for both teams.

if bear would take a 1 x 2 million deal, he probably returns a Cane. I doubt he takes a 2 x 2 though.

I like Necas more personally, very different players and I think CAR could use a little more skill but thats just me

bear was healthy scratch in the playoffs and Garland > Necas right now, so I think they'd accept.

Garland for Necas, Garland is a cost-controlled option for a top 6 option but Necas has a high ceiling with years in his bag to develop. IMO as a Nucks fan I see it happen as Garland is cheap and effective as Canes look to contend now but if Canes want an elite future they keep Necas

healthy is a loose term. He had a bum wheel that wasnt reported until the exit interviews.

If it's a 1 year deal he'd get a 2.5m qualifying offer, but remain an RFA in a year. I believe a 2 year deal would get him to UFA status, and gives him a chance to build up his value after being a healthy scratch at times this year.

Probably a pretty fair deal. Personally I wouldn't give up a 3rd for Bear though. He's got a similar profile as Dermott and I wasn't stoked on that trade either. I see them both as bottom pair dmen.

I know Necas is younger, but potential is still JUST potential

I don’t think Garland moves the needle enough to give away Necas. Necas was underwhelming this season but I’d still view him as a key piece for the future.

You don't think Garland moves the needle enough? You greatly underestimate him as a player then

Would Garland suddenly start putting up 30-35 goals a season? If so yea he’d move the needle. That’s what we need honestly.
