Los Angeles doesn't need a veteran bottom-6 left-handed rental forward. Johnsson wouldn't play ahead of Kempe, Moore, Iafallo, Kaliyev, Grundstrom, or one of the other young LW prospects we have.

Prefer to keep Dach, we don't need D guys at this point which would mean Smith although I like wouldn't hold the necessary value needed.

Dach has dealt with injury issues so I feel he still has the support needed to succeed. We are seeing what we can get for the whole team, doesn't mean we are selling everyone.

I'm not so convinced. It's certainly an interesting one, if unorthodox. Zacha was 6th overall in 2015, and is a good middle-six player. Could produce well with Malkin and Rakell, was 1/2 a point a game this season, and better in 2020-21. Nolan Foote was a late 1st in 2019, his career is just beginning and he has potential. At 6-3, ~200lbs, he would bring size to a Pens team that doesn't have much of it. I think Hextall would consider this one, especially if we could get Manson or Lyubushkin or someone in free agency. I still think I'd decline, but I'm no GM and I'd hesitantly decline.

2015 was 7 years ago. Zacha has done nothing to live up to his draft pedigree. The Pens have better players on the roster right now. Foote isn't going to help the Pens for the same reason Zacha won't help the,. They have better players than him already on the roster. If his only redeeming quality is size, that's a huge red flag. Size is also irrelevant if the player can't bring anything else to the table.

It's a stupid trade from the Pens perspective and if Hextall ever accepted it, he should be fired on the spot and never be given the chance to manage a peewee team let alone an NHL team.

Zacha hasn't lived up to his draft place, but he's still at worst a middle six player. I'd rather have him than the production Zucker had last season. And 2015 being 7 years ago means nothing. He's 25, he still has room to grow. Kris Letang and Steven Stamkos both put up career highs in points this season. Letang is 35, Stammer is 32. Zacha is a younger player than a lot of the established talent in Pittsburgh.
As for Nolan Foote, I just pointed to his size because that's an issue for the Penguins. They were the smallest and least aggressive team in the playoffs. They're one of the oldest and smallest teams in the NHL on average. He's still just 21, and he could probably slot into the bottom six somewhere immediately. Pittsburgh's prospect pool is a puddle, and this would add another good piece.

This trade is 2 former 1sts, a 3rd, and a 4th for John Marino, who was a 6th rounder. That doesn't mean that Pittsburgh should do this, giving up Marino is tough and it should only be done if we get a really good offer. This one is interesting, moreso to me than the constant Marino to Vancouver deals. Worse could certainly be done.
