Edmonton tried to pay for Hyman rights to get the 8th year. So you still do actually it's just not amazingly valued for some people. No JP is quite honestly really overrated imo. 36 points is his career year he's never hit 20 goals ever and he really hasn't shown that he is gonna grow much more.

Oh yes, I forgot about that 8 year rule. Makes no sense in my mind, as most clubs don't want to sign 8 year deals (unless the player is obviously worth it) which in my mind is only like the top 20 players in the league if that. I think this is a little over valued. Back to the UFA. It also gives you rights to try and sign him in the re-signing process before anyone gets him in the regular free agency. That's also a little bit of a value right now.
