Trades
1.
PIT
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
As you know there has been a lot of Pettersson to DET trades and not much has to be said. He would be a good fit in DET top 4.
DET
  1. Pettersson, Marcus
Additional Details:
Pens need to clear cap space and while Pettersson is still young and isnt bad at all, we need that space to sign Malkin and Letang.
2.
PIT
Im not sure which team would be willing to take on Zucker for 1 more year but ARI seems like the most likely candidate.
    ARI
    1. Zucker, Jason
    Additional Details:
Again, pens need thee cap space for Geno and Letang so we should be able to dump him anywhere either for a late round pick (6th or 7th) or just FC.
    3.
    PIT
    1. 2023 4th round pick (NSH)
    Additional Details:
Again im not too sure who would be interested in McGinn so I just chose NSH because why not. He probably fetches a late round pick.
    NSH
    1. McGinn, Brock
    Additional Details:
McGinn was a really solid player for us this season however with our young guys starting to make a push for the NHL we need to move out both cap space and depth guys like McGinn who is signed on for 3 more years.
    4.
    PIT
    1. 2022 1st round pick (CBJ)
    Additional Details:
Marino to CBJ makes a whole lotta sense. He would be a great fit next to Werenski and with this addition I could see them start to try and sneak their way up to a contending spot. They also still have CHI 1st so they also still get a decent prospect.
    CBJ
    1. Marino, John
    2. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
    Additional Details:
I know it doesnt make much sense to trade Marino as he is both young and potentially our best dman next year if Letang leaves. However is Letang does resign for somewhere between 7-8 mil the pens should really consider it. He would bring back some decent stuff and with this trade we get a very solid prospect to help with our pool.
    5.
    PIT
    1. Necas, Martin [RFA Rights]
    Additional Details:
CAR in this trade does save some cap space. Kapanen will get less money than Necas and that gives them space to resign Trocheck and ADA. They can also get a solid prospect with our 1st.
    CAR
    1. Kapanen, Kasperi [RFA Rights]
    2. 2022 1st round pick (PIT)
    Additional Details:
Kapanen wasn't a great fit here in PIT so moving him and our 1st in this draft make some sense to acquire a good young player to play on Carter's line.

Making a declarative statement that Kapanen will get less than Necas isn’t correct. Last time I looked - Kapanen has Arb rights and Necas does not.

Still probably will get less, his QO is only 800k.

Also why trade Marino just to sign Manson. Just keep Marino

Arbitration rights. Basically has the right to make his case for a higher contract in front of an independent arbitrator. Therefore, they have more sway in negotiations, as they can threaten and go to the arbitrator where the arbitrator may rule in there favour.

We trade Marino to get a good pick in the draft. Imo this helps both sides

He won’t play for 800k so that one sounds a bit challenging. Sounds like it’s heading straight for Arb and probably awarded more on a one year deal than Necas will get.

A Necas bridge deal is gonna be much less than people are thinking

The issue is that the draft happens before the UFA frenzy, so we would have to trade Marino and then just hope to sign a RD like Manson. Works good in chel, harder to pull off IRL

Yes obviously but it isn't like Pittsburgh is forced to sign for alot of money to keep his rights (for example Boeser's QO is 7.5M) therefore they can negotiate a contract for a reasonable price.

I would rather see Necas centre that third line

Seems that’s where he wants to be and where he will reach his potential

I really can’t see the Canes moving Necas if the return is just for Kappy and a 1st. Doesn’t help the Canes really take that next step. I love Kappy and would love to see another Kappy in a Canes jersey, but if Necas gets moved, it’s in a package for a higher end goal scoring winger. Someone like Fiala, DeBrincat, or Pasta would be players the Canes would move Necas for in a package.
