No, no, god no, why. Why wouldn't we just sign Gaudreau, or trade less for Fiala, or just not do this

I agree. Devils should take Cooley or Nemec and go after Johnny Hockey.

Cooley is not it. Wouldnt be opposed to Nemec and Gaudreau but I think we're taking Slaf and if we're doing Slaf, send it for pasta

Not a fan of Slaf. Dude was good at a glorified mens league tournament and now he’s gonna go 2nd overall? Seems like Puljujvari all over again.

Cooley is really good and would fit our team identity like a glove. Why would he not be "it"?

Cooley - Hughes lite
Slafkovsky - high risk high reward
Jiricek - model Devils defenseman

Gaudreau is 3 years older than Pastrnak and immediately requires a new contract.

Leaving Nemec off for Jiricek is odd to me. Nemec is a way better skater. Also Cooley reminds me more of Zegras tbh.

I'm very low on Nemec. Risky like Slaf but with a lower floor. I wouldn't be mad at Nemec 5th but my top 4 is easily those i listed. Lambert is up there too but I'd trade down for him.

Not sure how you re-sign/replace Graves, Siegenthaler, Severson, Smith, Blackwood, and Pastrnak the following season -- even with Johnsson, Kuokkanen, and Bernier off the books.
