I will be so upset if the habs pass on wright and take slaf. Every team in recent memory that has won a cup has 2 solid centers and wright could provide the habs with a great two-way game. Slaf struggled to put up points in Liiga, yes he had a great WC but did nothing against the better countries. Wright put up 90+ points (in a weaker league) but has also been the expected number one pick in this draft for the past 2-3 years. Again, this is just my opinion but i'm happy to discuss if anyone wants to.

Whatever Hughes and Gorton do, they deserve humility from the fan base. Many fans act like they KNOW the right answer despite extremely limited information and basically never watching these players live.
Looking at stats sheets is not scouting.
I don’t know what the right answer is, but my gut leans towards thinking we’re taking Slaf.
Consensus opinion does not equal correct opinion.
There is a non-zero chance that Wright is overrated. Pretty sure we know what we’re gonna get from Slaf. A beast of a man who can score, skates well, and looks to me to be in the Svechnikov mold. And without the douchey personality of Brady Tkatchuk.

I'm really hoping for 18th overall personally, have to take a contract back but I'd take Faksa or Khudobin

I would still rather have a Tavares than a Svechnikov. Svech is great but wingers are less important than center and right handed defensemen.

Wright over Slaf any day of the week. Yes Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield would be great, but they will most likely be the only threatening line in the future lmao rather have 2 lines over 1 line for offense tbh

I do agree, I have only watched some videos on youtube and looked at the stats sheet. I will support any player they draft because it would be unfair not to. However, Slaf is not an explosive skater, he can score but he cannot score from far out. I'm not saying he won't be a great NHL player but Hughes has said they will take best player available and to me that is Wright. If we were picking 2nd or 3rd they I would love to have slaf. I find it tough to pass on a guy that could complete a solid 1-2 punch up the middle for the next 10 years or so.

You consider those 4 lines above as having 1 line for offense?

I agree with you that if Wright was a slam dunk, then he’d likely be the 1st overall pick. My read on the situation though is that there seems to be quite a bit of doubt about whether or not that is, in fact, the case (i.e. the projection). Covid definitely threw a wrench into the OHL. Much more visibility from how Slaf has developed playing against men.

One real first line, Hoffman a turnover machine, Armia a cap dump, Anderson might not be what he is by the time we are competitive, Drouin wont be here, Gallagher gonna break down before then, Pitlick is a nice top 9 piece I'll give ya that. Dvorak is also kinda slow but a great 3c. Evans another concussion he might not play anymore. So yeah your offense would consist of Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield by the time we are competitive lmao

Im just stating facts, will Drouin be extented? is Armia worth 3.4? Anderson gon be above 30 in 3 years, so he'll be slower, Hoffman is very likely to be traded this summer, Gallagher isnt worth 6.5. How many times did Evans get a concussion? Dvorak is probably the only piece that might stay w habs long term cuz faceoffs, 2c until Wright makes the team cuz no slaf.

You have an interesting view on the definition of the word facts.

Now answer me these questions. Will Drouin be extended? is Armia worth 3.4? Anderson at 31 years old, will he be as fast as he is today? Hoffman gonna be a habs for the next few years? is Gallagher worth 6.5? Evans is indeed a nice piece too but another concussion and his career in jeopardy. How easy is it to focus shutting down 1 line than 2?

I’d rather bang my head repeatedly against a brick wall. People who talk with such certainty are generally a waste of time. The block list exists for exactly this reason. See ya.
