No shot I move that 2023 first rounder for anyone outside of a top line center trade. That draft is so deep and even if we pick 12th again it will be a major contributor to the lineup.

I get it but the Jackets could really use a player like Chychurn to be a battery mate with Werenski. The idea of getting one through the draft would essentially put us at least 2 years away from being a possible contender. Laine is an interesting situation too. Laine may not sign if the Jackets don’t do something to improve sooner rather than later. We still keep the 6OA this year and it is protected. This team as it looks here has some possibilities. With having Dach giving the Jackets depth at center this really opens up the options in the draft.

This is an interesting proposal. I think it favours Arizona, so I would probably take it.

This trade needs to include more already picked CBJ assets and deal from the young winger worth a 1st pool more (Chinakov, Foudy, Texier, Marchenko). Personally I would not move Marchenko. Texier still has a lot of development left to play a role that CBJ needs. He's a young and upcoming power forward but hasn't developed the skillset around board battling and getting off the walls that make him a significant contributor. He has the tools to do this but it remains to be seen whether that's a play style he wants to pursue. For that reason I think he could be included. Chinakov has an otherwordly ceiling but his development is being messed with in Columbus already and he has the least clear road to solid playing time on the team. For this reason I wouldn't mind moving him before his value is tarnished a la Bemstrom, but only for a very impactful player.

I would also be very eager to use Bean and/or Peeke over Boqvist. I don't necessarily mind moving the 12 depending on who we get at 6.

If we're giving up Boqvist we are not supplying 2 additional firsts either. He has flaws but his underlying numbers and comparables make trading him at this juncture very risky as he could ultimately be worth Chychrun 1 for 1.

deep outside of what? The top 7? Like this draft?
I know there's the big 3 for 2023, but outside of that it just seems to be the average sprinkle of euro U20 guys or proleague rookies, and just a bunch of canadians. Seems 2014 esque, just with a better big 3? What makes next year better than this year outside of the big 3?
