Don't know why Muzzin would have a interest in leaving "home" and playing for a non playoff team. Don't see Ducks interest either. That's a more reasonable trade for Muzzin....although at his best he's good player. So the Leafs retain 2.8m, and then find a LHD replacement for 1m....That's 3.8m, so the Leafs actually save in cap 1.8m
IMO the Leafs would have to that trade for cap reasons, though I don't think Muzzin would waive.

This Muzzin trades remind somewhat of the Habs fans wanting a first rounder and more for 5.5m X 5 years Anderson.

The Ducks can find a 5.6m X 2 year LHD pretty easily instead of Muzzin. And look at the UFA market for forwards. Copp is superior to Anderson and he might get 5.5m X 5. Trocheck, Palat will be getting more but not teams aren't giving up picks or prospects to get them.

Suffice to say, those teams probably dont want Leaf cast-offs, those UFAs dont want to take pretty average offers to be a depth player on a club that cant make the 2nd round, and I have to assume that I dont really know if thats fixed the issues, because the replacement of 8 new skaters and both goalies doesn;t really identify the issue for a 115pt team.
