Vegas matches, NJ easily declines, Dvorak isn't worth that anymore, Puljujarvi is worth more

oil decline

I haven't watched a lot of Oilers hockey (outside this years playoffs) but personally I'd try everything to keep Kane man. And that 2nd from MTL is essentially a late 1st.

A lot of people think Vegas won't even be able to match a 2M offer sheet for Roy. At least it wasn't another Anderson for 2oa trade tho right ? I thought it was a decent offer. Dvorak in ARI was a 30-40 point player and had a bad first half in MTL under Ducharme but had a great 2nd half under MSL. If EDM opts to keep Kane they won't be able to afford to sign Poolparty so why not get essentially a 2022 late 1st

Devils don’t give up 2OA for that imo.

Caps don’t send a first for a more expensive version of Eller even tho he’s younger. They need a top 6 C and Dvorak is best suited to be a 3C.

Vegas is able to match, they just can't afford to bring him into next season at that number. The problem with these 2nd round pick offersheet everybody is making for Hague/Roy is that Vegas will simply match the offer sheet then trade them for what they're actually worth. Teams will be willing to give up more than just a 2nd for them.

I agree but his asking price is just to much, only way we can keep him is if he wins his settlement against san Jose and we trade for him. I personally think we'd be insane to trade puljujarvi, there's lots of options in FA at cheaper prices then Kane. But lets be real, he only went to EDM to have a bounce back year with mcD. Glad hes back tho, hes a good player.

Just a comparison:

Josh Anderson the last two seasons: 121 games, 36 goals, 56 points.
Jesse Puljujarvi the last two seasons: 120 games, 29 goals, 61 points.

Anderson is 4 years older than Puljujarvi and is due $30.5 million over the balance of his contract; Puljujarvi is unsigned but won't cost 80% of Anderson's cap hit. One can argue that Puljujarvi's stats are inflated by playing with McDavid and Draisaitl, but even so, the difference in value set forth here between Anderson and Puljujarvi is striking. And let's look at some third-liners:

Pierre Engvall last two seasons: 120 games, 22 goals, 47 points
Ondrej Kase last 3 seasons*: 108 games, 21 goals, 51 points

* hobbled by injury

While I agree Vegas will try to match you can’t trade a player that signs an OS for a year I believe.

As a CH fan, Romanov is not going anywhere. Bergeron screwed up when sending Sergachev to TB... Hugues won't make that same mistake.

Exactly why I don't think VGK will match an OS that easily. And you can only exceed the cap by 10% I believe in the summer with no LTIR........so it's not as clear cut as some make it out to be
