Even at the low cost and 50% retention, I still think the Avs pass. I don't see him as a guy that helps you win.

We could argue there. If Drouin is again injured I would probably say like you but hockey sometime is about intangible and one of them is Drouin/MacKinnon chemistry they have before could they be a thing again ?
At 50% retain Drouin could bring a 40 to 50 pts and if he really reconnect with MacK that could be higher and stay healthy of course.

For 2 low third round that could be interesting deal for Sakic. If avs have a bad contract Hughes could accept it back if it's one year deal because MTL don't care about this season. It's more a rebuilding year and patience with young kids.

Personally I think this is too much for 50% Drouin. Replace to 23 3rd for a 6th in either 22 or 23. And you're in the better range.

Because if Drouin ends up being terrible again, they are paying 2.75m for either a terrible 3rd liner, or 2.75m for a above average 4th liner.

Drouin have a ppg of 0.58 the last season which mean around 47 to 48 pts per 82 match
That not so bad for under 3m contract one year. I can agree with you he's not fit to do 60 to 70 pts that he was supposed to be and can be injury prone. But Drouin could be a high risk high reward player the next season. He have thing to prove to himself and other that he can still play. Agree that he's injury prone but if kept healthy he could help a competitive team for depth source of offense.

The fact he would be a depth piece will make him play probably again line Less good and could produce more or less depending on the situation.

Maybe you're right and paying two third round pick is to much maybe more a third and a fourth or a fifth could be more the price.

ur dumb like im actually suE cuz drouin always been a top 6 player and idk why ppl thinks hesnt? hes never had solid linemates hes always produced sooo and you really think mtl would retain drouin 50% for a 3rd and 6th?? funny ur underpaying imo when hes healthy

He's a locker room cancer. Montreal played better when he was out of the lineup. Tampa traded a young guy that was like potentially going to be a first line stud. He hasn't lived up to ANY of the hype he had. But Sergachev has..

Drouin is "barely" a top 6 foward, he's more a middle 6. He's wildly over paid for his role on a team. He's had attitude problems, it's been quite visible.
