In fairness there are a lot of rumblings of Filip Hronek being on the trade market, LeBrun had mentioned that if Jeff Petry goes to Dallas. That Steve Yzerman might heavily pursue John Klingberg and then move Hronek to a team looking for a 2nd pairing RD.

I could see trading Hronek, but only if they got a haul. One idea I’ve been toying with but don’t have the courage to post is Erne (50% retained) and Hronek for Robertson, Sandin, Liljegren and Mrazek. My thought process was it fixes the leafs Mrazek issue, but that’s a lot to give up.

I could see them buying out Mrazek but I wouldn’t want the dead money on my books when Mathews hits UFA status. I think the move they have to make is a Nylander trade. Maybe they could make a deal with someone like Nashville who is at risk of losing Forsberg. Maybe they would be desperate enough to move Tomasino. I’m not saying they should, but I could see someone making a deal like that in an attempt to stay relevant.

The “reports” were by NYI and Montreal bloggers who were speculating. They are about as credible as the NHL Draft Bot on Twitter.

You do realize this article is based on a misquote of LeBrun what he really said was “I’m told Detroit is a possible destination for Petry.” That is the actual LeBrun quote.

If you are going to use a blog post from a couple of guys who can't correctly read a quote as proof of a rumor go ahead but it doesn't mean s*** in the real world.
