Red Wings and Rangers Trade

Created by: Benzino204
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 29, 2022
Published: Jun. 29, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm not a fan of either team, but I did watch a bunch of Rangers games in the playoffs and was impressed with K'Andre Miller and Braden Schneider who are on ELC's and will soon need new contracts, and with the Rangers being pressed against the cap I think Trouba is the odd man out in this equation. This also includes struggling first round picks who may need fresh starts, and the Rangers get a RHD back to ease in the transition.

Is this close to value?

I would do this but Trouba is waiving yet and I doubt Rangers fans would feel the same way.

My guess is DET adds in this scenario. How much? I'm not sure. The intangibles here are that Trouba's contract is heavy while Hronek is younger and cost controlled.

Trouba is a hometown kid (fun fact, went to school with him) so there’s definitely a possibility he waives (Tuch waived for BUF after all). I’m just not a fan of making this trade right now, would rather sell pieces for futures given the Wings’ play last year will likely correlate to further marginal improvements again next year rather than a shot at playoffs. They’re just not ready to go for it.

Get me a pen. NYR should take this ASAP. However, I'm sure DET is on his NMC list. I've also see a lot of commentary on this site about one of the reasons he wanted to come to New York was because his wife is doing her medical residency here. I'm not certain that is still an issue, he been with NYR for 3 season. A buyout ain't cheap, and Breadman's contract is even worse. Say it ain't so, Joe. I lie Troub's $6M, not $8M. As a Ranger fan for 65 years, all I can say is here we go again. My younger brother who pass away just before the 16-17 campaign was on board; both of us were for years. However, the history of Ranger GMs over my lifetime includes the following characteristics: 1) Bring in great players whose careers are past their sell by date, and don't forget to overpay for them. 2) Launch young players at just the right (when they are going to into quality players (Pavel Buchnevich - for those of a certain vintage --- Tony Amonte) I could go on for hours but I won't 3) and finally, In the salary cap era overpay and give the player every clause that advantages him. Thanks for listening. They Rangers roster will bleed to death because of these contracts. Thanks for listening.

Not until Kelly is done with her residency which is sometime next spring or summer. Which is why I said he won't waive yet.

Gotcha, no reasoning originally left so I assumed like others have assumed you were attesting it to DET being a rebuilder.
