Description
you cant keep kadri and burakovsky with macs contract up next year and byram and newhook will need extensions as well. avs proved they can get it done without girard and he has a high value with term so he is most likely getting moved with byrams emergence. honestly not sure what drouin is worth.

I think that if you are looking to ship out girard, STL and LAK would both come calling

I love the idea of Drouin going to COL, but as a Habs fan, i’d rather just keep Drouin and trade him at the deadline if he’ll only fetch us a late 3rd and 5th at 50 % retained when he’s, despite all the narratives surrounding, he still produces like a non-playdriving 2nd line winger. He’s not worth the moon of course, but as a cheap rental (at 50 % retained of course) a contender can gamble on he could probably get us a 2nd at the deadline all things considered, which is more valuable to us, since at this point the Habs are looking for quality over quantity.

I don’t think STL would be a trade partner there. Girard is too small and we already have Krug and Perunovich, who are both less than 6’. Blues will target a larger sized defenseman to partner with Parayko. LAK should get Chychrun in all honesty. Girard to DET might work, beat VGK to the punch there to shed off some salary. Zadina might be a piece heading back to COL for someone like Girard

Where do you see any fit ? Sakic traded for players who can defend (Lehkonen, Manson, Cogliano), he signed Helm because he’s good defensively. Drouin is hot garbage in the d zone, has a bad work ethic. He’s just talented, that’s it

people buy into bednar, a low risk high reward type trade. Mac determines excellence and drouin would have to get back to how he was in halifax with him

I think it’s more the fact that the Avs are really cap strapped and Drouin at 50 % retained would be a super cheap gamble for them. Despite clearly needing a change of scenery, he still tends to produce at a fringe second line level. They’d basically be gambling on his chemistry with MacKinnon. If it doesn’t work out, his cap hit would he really cheap anyway so it’s not a game breaker. Also, I could see Bernar helping Drouin finding a bit of his game again.

I just don’t see the fit with Colorado honestly
But everything will depends on Drouin season and he’ll be dealt at the TDL

A no thank you from Anaheim. Girard isn’t the type of guy Verbeek has said he is looking to add (size) along with the part where Comtois is on the move and that isn’t the move at all

Drouin is absolutely not the type of forward COL now covets, dude plays little to no defense and the whole reunite with MacKinnon is just nonsense. The Girard trade doesn’t make sense because you’re removing a top 4 20min a game 30pt puck moving dman and all you’re getting 2 20pt guys one of which you don’t even have in the lineup.

this year might be a referendum on defenceman size, Girard, Makar, byram are all little guys, so I think that if he is paired with someone 6' or taller he should be fine. But your breakdown sounds like a very real possibility

I don’t think the Blues would help Avs shave off some salary either. We have a bone to pick after getting eliminated this year.

Nah Blues were cheeks in 2021. Last year our team was lethal, but happened to run into the SC champs. I want a rematch with Binnington in net.
