So a third liner and a 7d? Sorry but that’s a brutal offer

First off, damn you, you barsteward, I am just making a Sandin-based AGM right now. You beat me to it. I tip my hat.

Secondly, you've overpaid a bit for Sandin, both in trade and in salary.

Finally, Will Butcher? Really? You do know that is not the character from The Boys, right? This Butcher is dreadful. And not at all needed anyway.

Heh. You don't actually know who either of those players are, do you?

I think you got a conversation going around a Sandin trade but I do think it will require a better quality asset back to TO along with a better draft pick - you have slotted Sandin in on the second pair which says something about how you feel about the players talents and skills

Most know who both these players are. I do believe you may be slightly overvaluing your own players in this deal. Sandin is 22 plays both sides has top 4 and maybe top 2 potential written all over him (which is why he's slotted on the second pairing here)

Butcher was more of a throw-in, can be any UFA 7th d option, would even be open to Tyler Tucker getting a look. The salary is based on the Kyrou and Thomas contract from last year

I think I value him more than Dubas. Otherwise he would be signed and not feeling like the odd man out again.

Well if there is limited room on the D than there is limited room, not being signed yet doesn't speak to how Dubus values him - there is the possibility Sandin is looking for a bigger # and longer term than he's worth at the moment

Way too much for Sandin. Barby by himself should do it.

Sandin is a 2 top 4 D with top 2 potential, Barbie is on the last year of his deal and not a guarantee to resign. He is not worth more or equal to Sandin

Don’t agree with your first sentence. And saw plenty of leafs fans offering Sandin and a puck previously for Barbeshev so they obviously don’t agree with your assessment either and they watch him every gm. Leafs are win now also. A 60 pt player who hits like Barby is gold - gold Jerry!

I went back 24 pages in Toronto AGMs to find a Barbie and Sandin swap and the Blues were the ones who added a pick. Not sure what you saw

Barbashev is the exact type of player Toronto doesn't have and the exact type of player they need more of if they ever hope to escape the first round. I'll give you that he may not re-sign, but all your G.M. needs to do is convince him that Toronto is a viable threat for playoff wins. As the Leafs are currently (and have been now for years), that might be a tough task, but bringing in guys like Barby help change that dynamic.

Honestly, he's exactly the type of player they've been screaming for forever. Grit out the wazoo but still skilled enough to hang with good players and contribute.
