Big Moves

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 4, 2022
Published: Jul. 4, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Leafs get Miller with an extension in place. Anywhere between 7.5-8.5m a year for 5-8 years.
Leafs trade Nylander and Campbell (extended) for Mercer, Blackwood and 2 2nd round picks. Leafs save a lot of cap. New Jersey gets the best player.
Leafs sign Kane to 1 year 8m dollar contract. This way they have cap for the Miller extension next year. Kane has another year to prove his value to the league.
Leafs sign MAF to be 1a + 1b with Blackwood.

If that’s the contract miller is willing to sign I’m sure he would sign it in Van

I also think it's fair for both teams. Van would need to value the prospects I listed here quite highly of course. Other teams will also offer significant packages.

I still think it's in Vans best interested to trade him.

Honestly, only thing I don't like about it is the 3rd rounder going to TOR but assuming Kerfoot could be re-signed for similar money to what he is making now then I could look the other way.

I believe that. A guy like Nylander would surely tempt them though.

I think Kerfoot would get about 4.5m a year on the open market. 4m a year x 5 years would be a good deal for both parties. They could also keep him and flip him at the deadline for a 1st or so as well.

That won't get it done for Vancouver. The retention + Schenn + 3rd is too much.

Maybe but the stated goal right now from Allvin is to try and get a deal done and if they can’t agree on numbers then they will trade him. 6yr 8mm seems like a very agreeable contract for van

considering the projection of a Zibanejad (8.5x8) similar contract 8x6 is a price VAN can likely live with.
