I Like Bertuzzi

Created by: BigBallsBriere
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 4, 2022
Published: Jul. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know Detroit fans probably dont want to get rid of him But where does the value stand.
The 4th Period has him linked to the Flyers, Devils and some other team

IF something like this were to happen (Very unlikely)

Id wants the Flyers to Draft one of Lekkermaki, Lambert or Savoie if he's there at #8

Detroit Moves Up in this year's Draft and gets a Future First which may not be as bad as it seems Florida has a lot of Space to Make for their Stars and Depth will suffer as a result While getting a Solid prospect.

Bertuzzi has been Linked to the flyers before and if Yzerman isn't Willing to extend Him yet why wait to make a move till the Deadline.

I like Gritty. Who else thinks it's Bobby Clarke under that costume? 🤭

You dont even know if you will be a bubble team, why are you trading down for a rental?

I don't think many people think Philly should be buying, but Philly has said they want to compete now and re-tool aggressively to get back into the race. So any arm chair GM not doing that is probably unrealistic at this point. Also, in terms of the rental if Philly were to make this deal I think they would have to figure out a deal fairly quickly for Bertuzzi otherwise it doesn't make much sense.

You can do that without trading a high value pick for a rental.

He's moving down 3 spots, and then giving up a 2024 protected 1st from florida. I personally don't think its a likely move either, but it is not egregious especially if they think who they get at 8 is far off from Gauthier/Jiricek. I would prefer to keep 5 myself, as Bertuzzi could be had without touching the 5th pick. With that said Flyers brass did mention they "could move down" but I think that is more just gm/scout speak more so than actively looking to do it.

But I was more so challenging the logic that they won't buy. Flyers are going to make a lot of moves as if they are a bubble team. They also have been linked to Bertuzzi for a little while.

And I think drafting your next #1 RD is more important here

The guy I would take at 5 has a very real chance of falling in Matthew Savoie because of height concern and after Wright, Cooley, and Nemec I think the difference between Prospects is very Minimal.
IF the Flyers can Trade down and receive a good roster player that will make an impact now while still getting one of the Higher Ceiling players in the draft, id say it's worth it because we lack offensive star power.
