i am a fan of what you did here, I think that Garland would be a great get if the Sens could find a way to do it.

Now I also like the idea of getting Chychrun, but him and Chabot I am not sure could co-exist on the same blue line, they are both players that like lots of minutes and take the lead in their pairings. They would have to play on separate pairings.
Secondly, after paying such a high price the Sens don't really have the cap space to give him the big extension he is going to need with Stuzle and Sandeson both going to need contracts as well.
So while i like the idea of the Sen getting him, just like with Fiala I don't think it makes sense in the Cap/roster construction plan of things.

I'd take that if I was ARZ, especially for the 7OA. Embrace the rebuild and get as many picks and prospects as you can... while staying over the minimum cap (thnx Zaitsev).

This would be a great offseason for the Sens, if not perfect.

no on garland, need a scorer not a passer. Keller will be traded before Chychrun, seems ARI wants to get rid of long contracts.

The first line could use a passer if you put Batherson on line 2

Here's the thing, when his contract expires, Stützle, Pinto, Sanderson would all have recieved their contracts, and the cap would have then risen by 3 million at least, not to mention Hamonic, Murray, Del Zotto and Ryan's buyout cost would have been done by then, so that's around 13 million extra cap space

I understand all that, and yes there could be room there. However, I would still think it would be a tight squeeze, what is the price Stuzlte is gonna cost 10 per? same for Sanderson, then you still need to fill in the roster with Formenton, Jospeh stypes and find a true #1 goalie which is gonna cost all of the Murray $$ if not more.

I just can see where OTT gets into a problem and their window is damaged by not having cap flexibility and I really really don't want to see that.

If you have too many good contracts, you trade one 🤣. I would totally be okay with trading Batherson in 3 years for a 20 year old ELC contract and a pick

That's where great amateur scouting comes in, because eventually you can't keep all your good players, so you would have to trade one, and have a prospect ready to take their place in the future

I watched all 77 games that Garland played last season and I still don't know what he is. He does score, he does pass, he does create offence, he does a lot of great things but I'll be damned if I know what kind of player he is hahaha

I still don’t understand why he didn’t play much PP. Is there really 8 forwards better than him on the PP?

he's a play driving 2nd line winger with dynamic stick handling. Makes great slot passes but takes too many low danger shots for my liking. I think the return here is fair, but I don't think there's enough of a need to move him for a return that's just "good enough"

I mean this is pretty much Garland. Play driving is accurate. Smart, aggressive and "never-give-up-attitude" are also good descriptors.

i like the value on garland trade, would rather target a 2022 pick or another young player. i like a JBD and formenton package with van adding another asset potentially

fair. canucks are looking for young players over picks. would settle for 2022 picks it seems like but doesnt make sense to trade for future picks when the team is trying to open their window as soon as next year
