Hard to see NYR even consider this. Kakko really flashed in the playoffs and Schneider is our future top 4 RD behind Fox. Miller is getting older and will demand a big payday, not to mention he's a rental for NYR unless they want to lose one of Laf, K'andre etc.

It's not as outrageous as most Vancouver fans have made the packages- lol these boys about to be real disappointed tonight- but I still wouldn't do the Leaf one. I don't think you ever pay that much for a rental.

The leafs literally gave up a first round pick for Nock Foligno as a rental at the deadline. He played 10 games with them. Miller is 1000 times better than Foligno

He definitely is way better, no question. It's a fair enough ask- I said it's not unreasonable. The Foligno trade was also a mistake. Best to not repeat those I think. Also the context with that trade- Dubas has always said that he doesn't want to trade 1st Rd picks for rentals. The other time he traded a 1st to get a player, he had term. The year of the Foligno trade having guys that didn't have term was actually ideal since it was expansion draft. Still should have not gave a 1st.

I think as a rental JT Miller probably gets a package like this from some team- 1st Rd pick, A- ish prospect, and a 2nd Rd pick. Again, I don't think you ever pay that for a rental unless it's randomly a top10 guy in the league that becomes available.

Definitely more reasonable than most posts but still off. Use the Pacioretty trade as a baseline.
- Suzuki (A- prospect)
- Tatar (45-50 point 2nd line winger)
- 2nd

Pens trade is pretty solid
Replace Kakko and Schneider with Lundkvist and Georgiev for the Rangers deal
Swap McMichael with Lapierre and Iorio with Eller in the Caps trade.
Toronto trade is probably good if you drop it to a 2nd or replace Kerfoot with Holl.

Im also assuming retention could be involved here

That’s a deal the pens definitely would be more comfortable with incase they can’t get him re-signed.

It would have to include Kerfoot for the Leafs to better balance the cap. I would throw Robertson in there to get 50% retention.

I don't think it would have to include Kerfoot at all to make the cap work. At 50% retention (which is what was retained on Pacioretty) it's only a 2.625M cap hit, which is definitely affordable. Right now Toronto has ~6.44M cap space to work with and 4-5 roster slots to fill. We can assume Mrazek is probably moved opening up another 3.8M. Subtract the above 2.625M and you are left with 7.62M to get a goalie and sign a couple small players. I would probably target Husso or Blackwood here and then fill in the rest

It would still work if Holl went the other way with retention on Miller. Better to keep Kerfoot and have the forward depth.

I actually won't be too surprised if Mrazek comes back and plays well and they get Comrie who I think could be a really good pickup. Mrazek could definitely bounce back and play 35-45 games and be above average and if Comrie shows what he did last year, he could become a really good starter. He out performed Halleybuck last season with the same defence.

Holl as the 6/7 defenceman is really smart though. Otherwise who do we get to be that guy? Who can play 20+ if need be?

I don't disagree, and I don't have an answer as to who could play the 20+ if there are any injuries.

I fear that the forward depth is going to take a hit if Kerfoot gets moved in this deal. Now we are relying on Robertson to make the jump, Clifford/Simmonds to step up, maybe even some of the younger kids. Depth scoring was an issue this past season in the playoffs.

The team scored enough to win and adding Miller at the subtraction of Kerfoot, adds a lot of offence. I am fully confident, Dubas will find another hidden gem or two for cheap. He does it all the time so he'll find someone who has lost favor and get him cheap and then we'll have better depth, and still have a deep Blueline.

I would be very surprised if Mrazek comes back. Toronto market is tough and he has not been a good fit. You cant go into next year as a contender and think he can be your guy

Carolina did but I hope he isn't the guy. Comrie is my hope but who knows. Goaltending is a crap shoot. Markstrom was amazing last year and then crapped out vs Edmonton

Mrazek played fine in Carolina and they have a top 3 d-core in the league to back up theor goaltending.

I still think he's a serviceable goaltender i just think his relationship in Toronto aged like Milk on a hot summer day and it's just a situation both teams need to move on from. Personally I think he plays for Chicago next year

Cross off the Pens and Leafs packages, they aren't even close.

The Rangers package is probably the closest to what gets it done, although I'm not so sure the Canucks are all that interested in Kakko. Switch him with Chytil or add the Rangers 2022 second pick and you have something the Canucks couldn't say no to.

The Caps would need to add their 2022 second round pick.
