Idk... Yeah, they probably aren't going to win next year. But Kane might like to play with Zegras and for Pat Verbeek. And they are close enough to contending within the next few years that it might be enticing for him.

And he takes a huge income reduction with California taxes and lives in Anaheim which is not a nice area. The coast is 60 to 90 minutes away with traffic. I don't see him waiving for Anaheim...in fact I can bet not a chance

Fair points. Not so sure money is as big of a concern at this point for Kane. But I get you. Traffic in CHI isn't much better though and we don't even have a coast, we just have Lake Michigan that is gross from all the Indiana oil refinery pollution among other things.

Yeah, but Kane is living in the Gold Coast and the stadium is 20 minutes in traffic plus the beach is in view from his condo. Anaheim is a **** hole, the coast is literally an hour on a good day and 90 minutes typically. All that for taking a $700K pay cut on a team that isn't competing yet? I don't see it. New York I get, LA even possibly. LA is a way nicer place to play...the practice facility is awesome and only a few miles from the ocean plus you're in Manhattan Beach so close to Beverly Hills as well.

Oh nice. I'm on the east coast now an hour or so north of Boston in the New Hampshire seacoast area. Sort of a lateral move when it comes to weather... I hate winter. haha

Illinois and California taxes are pretty close. Like a .5% or in that ballpark. So I dont think that is a huge issue. besides, a majority of his contract is already paid. His actually salary for the year is 6.8. not 10.5. And who wouldnt want to be in California in January and February?

I’m sorry you live in California and this is your perspective? You in Stockton or something? The players typically live in Newport Beach, which is a dream location for anybody. It’s less than 20 miles away from Honda Center and right on the coast. Did almost that exact drive last month in 20 minutes. If traffic is bad (which is only during rush hours at 9am/5pm) at absolute worst you could literally take city streets and do it in 40 minutes. 90 is laughable. You could legitimately make it to Lake Arrowhead from Newport in 90.

Now, I’m terms of Kane to Anaheim, that makes absolutely no sense for anyone. Kane should go compete, while Anaheim is a few years away and shouldn’t be trading for guys over the age of 26. But man do you need a geography lesson

I live in one of the top 10 most expensive zip codes in CA and higher priced then Newport actually....Stockton...LMAO that's funny actually!

I know Newport extremely well, and no way are you making that drive from the beach to the stadium in 20 minutes...maybe from the Northeastern edge of Newport by Costa Misery but not down by the beach or the Island or Peninsula. I'm literally looking at the traffic report right now at 9:20pm at night and it says 29 minutes, all green no traffic at 9:20pm at night! Try making that drive to practice or for games between 8am and 6pm and if no accidents then 40 minutes MAYBE mid day, but also looking at the typical commute time at 4pm and it's 1 hour 20 minutes M-F according to Google maps; it's widely talked about among players it's a pain to commute and I know that because I knew a couple players that played for the Ducks. And as you probably know, most of the players don't live in Anaheim because it's not a nice area nor is anywhere really close especially for a guy making $10.5M + endorsements. Then add to it, Kane gets to pay an extra 8% a year on his income in California, 3 times the cost for a place over Chicago in a nice area like Newport and it would be a massive pay cut for him to be with a team that's not competing for a couple more years..there's not a chance he agrees.

No duck lives in Anaheim, totally with you. I drive up to games from south Orange County in 45 minutes or less consistently though (tons of nice places for someone rich to live all the way up that stretch of coast from San Clemente to Laguna Beach). And again, I think Kane makes zero sense for both himself and Anaheim, I’m just saying your rationale that there’s nowhere nice to live within 90 minutes of the stadium and that players hate it is laughable.

Also, both Google maps and Apple Maps say 19 minutes from Newport Beach to Honda Center right now (that is from just over the bridge on the balboa peninsula for Google and at MacArthur and PCH for Apple). Adjusting same drive to 5pm today and it’s 41 mins on Apple and 30-65 on Google. Google has you taking the freeway though, you can literally just take Fairview north in 40-45 minutes even at 5pm

That's not my rationale at all. I'm well aware a lot of the players live in Huntington/Newport/Laguna which is why I brought that up that the drive times can get extremely ugly. I knew a couple ducks players from my playing days and they would especially complain about the night games during the week and the commute from the coast. Furthering my point, it's not like Kane is going to live closer in Costa Mesa or Irvine, not saying they aren't decent areas because they are but he's worth tens of millions and is living on the coast obviously.

True, but make that drive at 4pm on a Wednesday once the workplaces get back to office work....good luck in 40 minutes.
