I can't see the Blues wanting MP. He doesn't fit the profile AND he's too expensive.

Thanks for the response. Out of curiosity, is your issue with giving Barbashev or acquiring Pettersson? I assume you're wanting a better LD.

I don't think Edmonton would do a swap for Kapanen. Puljujarvi is developing into a star and they're going treat him like that in negotiations

Blues and oilers decline. Barbashev is worth more than Pettersson. Pettersson isn’t bad but he is slightly overpaid. Kapanen is worth less than Puljujvari based on age alone. And I have to think Kapanen’s next five years will be less productive than Puljujvari.

I wouldn’t call him a developing star, but he’s certainly a top six right wing and those guys have legit value.

Yes, I don't believe he's the right fit at all. I think we can get someone much more suitable for cheaper.

I don’t think the Blues target any LD from PIT. I think pulling off Graves would be more likely than the Blues trading for Dum or Petter

Assuming Gavrikov doesn't tell CLB that he intends to test UFA, Soucy would probably be my preference.

I would be fine with either player, but Seattle would be more likely to agree to take Scandella back in the deal. Reality is blues can’t make many moves given the fact Vlad, Krug and Schenn all have NTC’s.

I'm fine with trading Barbashev but I don't want Petterson. I don't think he is worth the contract and it would be a risky gamble for us. Petterson has played 15-16 min and what we need is a LHD that can play on the top pairing alongside Parayko. Plus his contract would hinder us from making other moves imo

If u trade Barbashev you look for someone who is of similar age or even younger. Maybe the St. Louis could make a run at Sandin. It’s hard for me to say what that deal would look like but Pettersson’s contract makes it difficult to move him without taking salary back. I think pens fans are underestimating that.

Sure, and he'd be more likely to not have Seattle on his no trade list, too. But he can always be moved separately.

Pettersson has also never played 20 minutes a night and has only even come close to it once in his career. That's not gonna work at all.

I was thinking a first, second and Scandella for Soucy at 50% retained. Gives blues some maneuvering room for next year.

I think Kevin Kurz floated the idea of a Bailey for Pettersson trade, but at this point I’d rather keep bailey cause worst case scenario they can move him next summer when he only has a year left.

You can get Soucy and not move Scandella too. Mikkola would be gone instead for draft capital

Fair enough. I just think Armstrong is the type of guy who would do it all in one deal. Look at the Brayden Schenn and Ryan O’Reilly trades for instance.

My theory is that Soucy probably commands a late first on his own by the deadline. You throw in a second to dump Scandella and you also get 50% retained for a full year. That would put Soucy at a cap hit that is less than Scott ****ing Mayfield for a full year lmao.
