Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2022
Published: Jul. 8, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I’d like to focus on shipping out some of the guys for picks and prospects, making sure the young guys get chances, trying to give the guys chances to have good years so we can ship off the older players for assets at the 2023 deadline, and yeah. We’re going towards the future.

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Turcotte, Alex
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Petry, Jeff
Additional Details:
Turcotte hasn’t really worked out in LA, but I wouldn’t mind acquiring him if I’m Montreal. Similar trade to the Dach one tbh, a bit of a bit project. Give him a shot. LAK reportedly interested in Petry so yeah this makes sense
2.
MTL
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (NYI)
NYI
  1. Hoffman, Mike
Additional Details:
Not necessarily specific to the Isles, just trade Hoffman to anyone willing to give a 3rd round pick. There will be someone for sure. If you can get more, jump on it.
3.
MTL
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (OTT)
  2. 2024 6th round pick (OTT)
OTT
  1. Dvorak, Christian
Additional Details:
I heard Ottawa was interested in Dvorak? Correct me if I’m wrong in the comments. I’d take just about anything for Dvorak but I’ll value him at about a 3rd round pick… maybe a 2nd if we get lucky. Who knows.
4.
MTL
  1. Barrie, Tyson
  2. Foegele, Warren
  3. 2023 1st round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Allen, Jake
  2. Anderson, Josh ($1,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Habs taking on some pretty bad contracts and players here while also shipping out two good players (and Anderson is retained a bit) solely to acquire a 1st round pick. Will likely be a late pick cause the Oilers are expected to be good again next season.
5.
MTL
  1. 2023 5th round pick (WPG)
WPG
  1. Savard, David
Additional Details:
If anyone offers literally anything for Savard I would take it. It’ll probably come back to bite me but just get this guy out of here man
6.
MTL
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (TOR)
SEA
  1. Armia, Joel
  2. 2023 5th round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Kraken are apparently going to be aggressive this offseason and will try to get into the playoff mix next year. Armia had a great tournament at the World Championships in Finland this Spring and has since gained some interest around the league. This seems to make sense to me.

“This seems to make sense to me”

Doesn’t actually make sense. Our argument included 2 separate ideas and somehow combined them into one bad idea for the other team

"LAK reportedly interested in Petry so yeah this makes sense"

Which report would that be? RHD is the single strongest position the Kings have. Why would they want Petry?

I appreciate you being more realistic about about Dvorak's value but Ottawa likely doesnt have any interest bringing him and his contract on.

How much do you want to bet that Turcotte for Petry doesnt happen?
How much do you want to bet that Petry to the Kings at any price doesnt happen?

This is all overly optimistic, to put it mildly.

Nobody "reported" that the Kings are interested in Petry; if it was said, some yahoo just made the story up.

It was reported by multiple high end reporters that the Kings have interest in him. As to why, I don’t know
