Anaheim wouldn't sniff the playoffs this season WITH Nylander and Gibson, and won't sniff the playoffs for the next two seasons with Nylander but without Gibson, after which Nylander leaves for an actual contender, so what's the upside of this trade for Anaheim?

I see you in alot of ducks leafs trades, honest question do you think that the Ducks if they move him are getting more then a late first and prospects? It seems you value him alot while others value him only as a bounceback, due to how he played 3+ years ago. Not that I want him but I'm curious.

It's like talking to these guys about Muzzin to Los Angeles or Gibson-hasn't-been-good-for-three-years-so-he-should-come-cheap-because-we-want-him-for-five-seasons. You're trying to reason with guys that love GPS because they used to have to find their way home by spreading breadcrumbs.

The funny thing is that the persistent annoyance being discussed - "No to Kerfoot-to-Jackets" - predates both of the examples you've given. smile

It's only because when you want to trade someone and know they have value you scroll through the team list alphabetically and CBJ is always the first team you look at. It's not about thinking it's a fit. It's just any team to move them.
I'd move them for free but then more leafs fans who come complaining.

Leafs fans on CapFriendly have had three full years of increasingly hostile and strident variants on "no, never, go away" in which to learn not to pick the Jackets. This is not an acceptable excuse. There are no acceptable excuses.

No, I think that's his exact value -- a current first-round draft pick, a quality roster player and a high-quality prospect, or two of the latter. But the offers we see on here are always variations on rentals like Holl and Kerfoot or dubious prospects like Robertson and Hirvonen or downright last-chancers like SDA and Abramov. And now that Gibson wasn't dealt last week the chance of his being traded before the deadline is greatly lowered because the effect of the draft pick won't be felt until next season.
