Blues trade

Description
Let me know what you think of this trade. From a Blues perspective I was under the impression that the Blues fans were looking to get rid of Scandella. Blues lose out on Saad but gain cap space for this year and a lot of space when Zucker's contract is done. While Zucker is overpaid by 1.5 or 2 mill he is still a very capable top 9 guy that can slot into the top 6 if need be. I think Zucker would fit better in the Blues system. Since Saad is the much better player I added POJ to even out the value.

From the pens perspective POJ was a Rutherford guy and I am not sure how much Hextall wants to keep him around. I think it would be worth bringing in Saad even at the expense of taking on Scandella. Besides Ruhwedel and Friedman are pretty easy to play with and he will be on the third pair. If Geno does sign around 6 mil there would be enough space (assuming dumo or MP is traded) to add a top six forward. I went with Burakovsky but I would be fine with Trocheck or Rakell. Rakell is probably the cheapest and most realistic. The taxi squad guys including Nylander should all be competing for that last spot either on the third or fourth line.

I can’t see the Blues taking this deal. you hit the nail on the head with Zucker; quality player currently being overpaid by $2M, but will likely rebound next season. the issue is that his trade value is negative right now because teams just aren’t looking to trade for that salary hoping for that rebound season. perhaps a Zucker trade could materialize if the Pens ate some salary.

I’m not aware of Saad being on the trade block, but I’d certainly be interested if he was. also, I know the new FO is not convinced by POJ, but I would not be willing to trade him

Don't think the Blues go for this. Saad fit in very nicely with the Blues.yeah it helps in the long run cap wise so there's that element, but the Blues would trade for a NHL number 4 LD

Scandella is less overpaid than Zucker. I think the Blues pass.

Saad can only put 12 teams on his no trade list and since he is from Pittsburgh I don't see why the Pens would be on that list.

I agree, my thinking was that you save cap space this year to help resign Perron and next year to resign about everyone.

I am not sure if the Blues go for this either but I did not think this was an unreasonable direction for both teams to go.

It's not unreasonable so there's that. My guess is Perron doesn't come back so Saad fills in that slot and then Neighbours fills in elsewhere in the lineup.

You are right he does have a Ful NTC. I misread it. In the last year he has a 12 team list.
