Let's say Tavares does agree, trading him leaves a hole at 2C. Much easier to get complimentary wingers than replace him.

edit: wrong thread lol.

Edited Jul. 10, 2022 at 12:25 p.m.. Reason: typo
It fills each team needs and it's some good trades value-wise IMO

I dont like the idea of having an other forwards with terms on the bottom 6 though (Faksa).

Good post!

Yes, Tavares. He's elite at faceoffs and still PPG player. With Bergeron in the same division, the Leafs need someone who can help them gain first possession off draws in the playoffs.

The only 2C that they can probably land in FA that would be ~5.5 is Ryan Strome and he's weak at the circle. Giroux would be a good replacement but he's probably not interested in Toronto and would likely want something like 7m.

Now it's all making sense lol. It is indeed the wrong thread. I read Campabee's post and was like "No...it's not the wrong thread, he traded for Tavares..." Not sure how I got here instead of here https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3418202. I took TheRealisticGuys post to mean that TOR would be happy to get rid of him and his hit lol.

For a sec, I thought the trade was reverted perhaps but then I saw the description was empty here, so knew it was the wrong thread. My mistake lol.

Faksa contract sucks big time, same for Nemeth. But at least we won’t rush our prospect. For Guhle it sucks, maybe we could do something with him 2023 summer (Nemeth contract), but for Faksa, we don’t have any Center close to be NHL ready. Jan Mysak, Riley Kidney and Owen Beck are years(S) away from being NHL ready (if they become NHLers). So Faksa could block Harvey-Pinard since Poehling is moved on the wing. But Faksa is definitely a better player than Harvey-Pinard

Decent enough trades and smart enough use of cap space i guess, value's fine, there's just much better options that exist out there, would be a tad disappointed with all of these tbh.

The Subban signing seems remarkably unrealistic both in terms of dollar value and fit. Incredible over valuation, but perhaps that's exactly what it would take for Subban to head back to MTL lmao. Even still, if you're gonna drop 4 million on a RD, there's much better and younger options. Either save that cap space or get your money's worth bud.

I signed him 3M but people would complain saying he’ll get more elsewhere. I don’t want a young RHD, I want a veteran one who can eat minutes and the fans would love it. Subban liked it here in MTL, so why not ?

Subban was ran out of town and was notoriously disliked by that locker room. Sure, nobody from those teams is around anymore, still something to consider.

He's worth *maybe* half of what you've given him here, maybe 2.5 considering his "veteran presence" and adjusting for the open market bump but there's just absolutely no comparable at that value for what he's produced the last 4 years.

But again, maybe it would take 4 million to get him to come back to MTL.

If it’s less the better, I just didn’t want people complaining lol
But yeah 2.5M-3M is better than 4M (Justin Schultz comparable)
