Where is all this Bertuzzi to Philly coming from, and why would Yzerman take on a cap dump, when he as GM of Wings has only taken cap when it was to fill a hole?

Just being known that Philly want to win now, Provorov hasn’t worked out that well there. They need cap space, and Wings are far from contending. So taking on Cap for 1 year with JVR we’d get a premium asset(s), plus a 25 year old decent LD who might need a change teams to really thrive. Bertuzzi hasn’t had the best of negotiations with the Wings going to Arb. twice. So just throwing him in there since he’d make the Flyers better.

Deal doesn't work for PHI. They could achieve the same cap savings with buyouts. Trading Provy and JVR, plus a #1 and top prospect for a goal scorer who will be a UFA in a year is a bad move.

Obviously the Flyers would try to get an extention for Bertuzzi. Having over 13.5 mil in cap space in two players, both in which aren’t worth that cap hit is not an easy buyout. The flyers want to win now and buyouts do not help winning now.

Flyers should also get Kassian, Kane at this rate. Bring back the most hated team in the league

If they create cap space (by dumping JVR), I think that money will go to Gaudreau. Local kid... grew up a Flyers fan. But getting Gaudreau and Bertuzzi would be very interesting.

100% would go to try and get Gaudreau. The Wings are a perfect team to take on bad contracts for assets, and I think Bertuzzi is the type of player Philly wants

I'd love this. Yzerman doesn't weaponize the cap as much as I'd like to though. He had premium opportunities last year to do it for draft picks but never did and other teams took those picks instead. And I think we taking JvR from Flyers for a steep price is a match made in heaven. We don't have premium extensions to hand out this year and we are not in a position to hand out big bucks to premium players in FA yet so we taking on that 7 mil cap hit would make perfect sense, for a steep price of course.

I love Bertuzzi but his and Detroit's timeline doesn't align.
