DeBrincat to DET

Yes, that was my original comment. I think Yzerman would be at $8.5. Tough to get people to come to Detroit if the money isn’t being offered but for DeBrincat, he’s from Michigan so maybe he (Cat) is willing to come down a bit.

DeBrincat to DET
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hobo</b></div><div>Hey may want more than that if he is signing a max deal. He has a skill set to be a point per game player and has already picked up multiple 40 goal seasons (even the season he had 32, he only played 56 games) He will likely be looking to get 9 or maybe even more.</div></div>
I think Yzerman will want to make a statement about contracts. Larkin’s is at 8.75 so I don’t see DeBrincat making much more than that. Yzerman doesn’t like longer term deals, so I feel like DeBrincat won’t get both term and top dollar (8 years x $9.5). DeBrincat being a Michigan guy could take a slight “hometown” discount, where he hovers around the Larkin range

Detroit Upgrades in Net
DET would never make this trade. Getting significantly older in both goaltender and forward, while losing a top 10 pick and top G prospect. Also, having to pay Hellebuyck and Scheifle big deals after next year. This trade is more in line with fringe playoff teams and would never interest Detroit.

DeBrincat - Detroit
DET hangs up quickly. Not giving up Kasper AND more. NYI 1st (17th), a 2nd (2023) and a decent prospect/player (Zadina or Johansson) would be roughly a fair price.

1 year of a 40 goal scorer and then can sell because he’s an RFA vs 2 years of a 1st time 30 goal scorer and you can potentially lose him for nothing at UFA.
OTT can still sign him if they want. It was never just a 1 year thing with Debrincat for OTT.

Still a big difference between a then 24 year old RFA (2 time) 40 goal scorer in Debrincat and a 26 year old (first time) 30 goal scorer with 2 years left then UFA.

If you don’t see the difference there, especially in a flat cap world, then this is pointless lol</div></div>
The original trade for Debrincat is what I’m referring to bud. Because that’s a trade that’s actually happened. 7OA, 2nd and 3rd. He was coming off a 40 goal year and was an RFA for another year.

You act like I offered nothing. A mid-later 1st (20-24 pick IMO), a good D prospect (yes he is good, not great), and I’ll change to this years 2nd like I mentioned.
What you’re asking is way more than what Debrincat got. And debrincat is a lot better than Konecny

Hayes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheBigFlyera</b></div><div>I mean ur whole basis is that he constantly missing games which is quite literally not true and would have been avoided with literally just doing the research into how many games were played in each season. Hayes is a low end 2C and high end 3C at this point and isn’t who the Wings want.</div></div>
My entire basis was not about him constantly missing games? Not sure how you think that’s the whole basis of my point? My main point was that he’s a middle six player and has never been close to a point per game player. I admitted I made a mistake with the amount of games but it’s not hard to tell what the main reason was. So if you read the entire original comment, it stated clearly twice that he isn’t good enough to trade for based on points and quality of player

Hayes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheBigFlyera</b></div><div>While I don’t disagree with you on the premise of they don’t need him, ur nitpicking is comical.
He played 81 this year, 55 of 56 in the post-Covid year (don’t think anyone hit 70 games that year bud😂), and played all 69 games in the pre-Covid year (the flyers only played 69 games before Covid shut the league down😂). So in those 3 years he missed 2 games. Then had an injury at the start of the 2021 season that kept him out for half the season. Like ur correct he isn’t what you need but ur reasoning is laughable like u did the research and yet completely ignored what it was telling you (Covid shortened seasons) 😂😂😂😂😂</div></div>
Fair enough. My mistake. Only was looking at Capfriendly games played. Wasn’t much “research” to be done, only looking at games played and points. Calling it “laughable” or me “bud” with all the “😂” emojis wasn’t necessary but all good.
Main point was Hayes isn’t worth trading for. Wings need top end talent and should be willing to pay big for it. Not middle six forwards in their early 30’s

Hayes
Detroit doesn’t need a player like Hayes.
1. Injury history (1 season in previous 4 playing over 70 games
2. Never been close to a point-per-game player. They don’t need more middle 6 forwards.
He’s a decent player but doesn’t suit what they need, which is high end talent

How is this a downgrade? Ned played behind one of the worst defenses in the NHL. And Georgiev was a back up with a pretty solid defensive team and his numbers are terrible. Ned on a good team (Canes) put up great numbers.
