Buffalo doesn't do this. Kakko in 3 years hasn't proven he is worth close to that.

You should keep him and hope he develops

I would cite the recent Kirby Dach trade as evidence that this is in fact a overpay by the Rangers, but I certainly do like a good prospect-hype rally.

With the Mikheyev signing, this is possible. Though Canucks fans are reeling from that signing. It certainly opens the door for Garland to move for a RHD. Minus retaining on Garland, I do like this for them. Though I wonder if they are planning to just run with the team they have and sell at the deadline next year at this point.

Dach is also a center which generally seems to be given more value than a pure winger. Buffalo has a good number of RW prospects and players already, but they haven't really identified legit 1/2C roster players yet outside of Tage who they have yet to see if he can reproduce what he did last season. Having Cozens, Krebs, Savoie, Ostlund, Mittelstadt and Kulich give them a shot at a couple of them becoming those centers they need. It's usually a lot easier for a center to convert to wing than vice versa.

Now that the Rangers signed Trocheck, you give up on the ridicules Miller trades to try to get Schneider and start with Garland. There is no sillier group of fans than Vancouver. Easiest PASS in history from the Rangers.

wtf is that Sabres trade. Neither team does this bc it makes no sense. Ostlund could be the next Wayne Gretzky, or the next Alex Nylander. But the Rangers are the one adding?? For the 14th overall pick from last week? Rangers could've traded Zac Jones/Nils Lundkvist and a 4th Rder and gotten the 13th overall to pick Ostlund and held onto Kakko if they wanted him so bad. Sabres wouldn't entertain it bc no team trades players a week after drafting them.

LOL, I make this trade as i hated drafting Ostland.
You are all correct, the Rangers would not make this trade.
It is too early to give up on Kakko, bigger players take longer to develop.
