4 years 4.75 mil AAV for Chiarot according to CF signings. Stevie filled some holes. I'd say he's done.

Not at all pleased with the Chiarot deal but that means that clearly Edvinsson/Wallinder/Johanssen are not close to ready (as expected).

Love the Perron signing.

That's a whole lotta money for Chiarot.

It doesn't matter what Stevie does. It's always horrible to anyone who isn't a Red Wings fan. He supposedly blew it when he drafted Seider, Raymond, Edvinsson and Cossa too. It's a miracle Yzerman is even an NHL GM apparently.

Read that he was the leading D man in minutes in Montreal's cup run. Montreal was horrid this year, hope he plays like he did 2 years ago. We're not a destination yet, so its high but in Stevie I trust!

Only other teams can sign UFA's. Red Wings aren't allowed to. Call Bettman.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...Absolutely no need to be short. I get when people will absolutely die to defend anything that their GM does, but c'mon now. I'm reasonably confident that if I look back far enough, you (like everyone else) probably had plenty to say when Habs fans were demanding the moon for him tears of joy Plus, the only one of those draft picks that was questioned was Seider, because nobody knew him. Raymond, Edvinsson and Cossa all went very close to the average mocks, with Cossa and Jesper being a toss up. It's hilariously weird to hear a "Everyone hates us!!!" from a Wings fan right now.

Jfresh: "Ben Chiarot, signed 4x$4.75M by DET, is a physical defenceman who was cast in a #1 role he couldn’t handle 1st season. Good skater, loves to battle along the boards and in front of the net, chases hits, and takes a lot of minor penalties"

He's fine for a couple of years...will bang and crash and block shots (because he rarely has the puck).

Im about to piss off my fellow wings fans, but I really don't mind the Chariot signing. Seider is going to drive the first pairing and unlike last year won't have a d partner that is a liability. What this does is give Seider more freedom and should help him have a better year. So we raise the level of our#2 D and make our #1 better. Is it a little long and a little high maybe. and I am sure Yzerman tried to get him cheaper but obviously couldn't. 4 years isn't a death sentence relax. He probably plays 2 or 3 before being moved out as a cap dump but makes the team better now.

Wouldn't it be easier to just say you hate the Red Wings?

Red Wings aren't allowed to get better. Only the other 31 teams are.

I don't, but I don't particularly like whiners that take the "woe is me" attitude every time someone comments on a move that their team made,, simply because they can't see past the color of their own teams laundry.

If someone else signed Chiarot, you'd be laughing at them (You absolutely would.).
