Haven't watched him much since he was with Montreal, but he wasn't very good. No idea how he's still in the NHL.

Gustafsson is awful, He's a huge defensive liability, shouldn't be in the NHL at all.

Worse... imo a team is better off playing him as a forward. He can't play defense if his life depended on it.

On June 18th, it was reported that he underwent surgery on his left shoulder and is expected to be miss 4-5 months. He'll probably need some time with Hershey (for conditioning) until he's able to challenge Gustafsson, Irwin and Johansen for that place on the third pairing.

Yes you're right, I do remember that now. Lot of bad news this off season for the Caps. Good grief. Wilson ACL tear, Backstrom hip resurface, Alex shoulder surgery.
