That's fair. Are you suggesting in addition to all of the above or in lieu of either McMichael or the 1st-round pick? I don't think the Caps give up McMichael, Iorio AND a first rounder. But maybe two of the three.

You're gonna have to give up all 3 especially with retention involved. You can switch McMichael with Lapierre but every other piece is pretty much a requirement

You think JT Miller at 29 and one season left before becoming a UFA costs more in a trade than Alex DeBrincant who is coming off a 40-goal season, is 24 and still only an RFA (albeit one with arbitration rights)? If that's the case, that's a hard pass from the Caps.

Miller's a center, plays in all situations, and is coming off the better year. Debrincat's QO also probably drove down his price. Let's also not pretend like that wasn't a terrible return for Chicago.

I still can't believe that after seeing the returns for Fiala and DeBrincat this is still an argument people are making lol. Sure DeBrincat's QO drove down the price but what do you think Miller is asking for in FA????

DeBrincat was sold low because Davidson was desperate for a deal to have a Top-10 pick on Draft Day. Canucks aren't desperate to trade Miller, they can afford to wait until a team is desperate for Miller and get the best possible price.

Yea he'll drive the price all the way up to a first and a top prospect, the maximum price anyone pays for any player in the NHL even if they're retained and even if it's at the deadline. Also there is no guarantee that the Canucks themselves don't panic and feel like they have to move Miller. I mean it's not like Rutherford is known for making some out-there trades!
