Pearson is worth more than that and a 1 for 1 swap with Garland and Marino works

I can't see anyone giving up more than a 3rd for Pearson. I think he is a bottom 6/3rd line player on a contending team. We'd be very lucky to get a 2nd rounder since we have almost no leverage in a trade because its a cap clearing move, and I don't think teams would be desperate for a guy like him.

I don’t think Canucks will have to retain next offseason to move Pearson

Maybe at this years TDL? At 1.5 mill its not a bad deal, and he would be a better option than Dryden Hunt in the playoffs. He brings some grit too, needed for the playoffs. I agree the rangers could get by without him but it would be a good add at that small price. And at the TDL means you have him for cheap during two runs.

I agree but if they don't retain he will probably only go for maybe a 3rd rounder, maybe less. I don't think any contending teams are going to want 3 mill Pearson

It's definitely not a bad deal but. I dont see how the Rangers can fit him in as we still have to sign Kakko to his bridge deal and next year we have to sign Laffy, Miller and Chytil (if he is still on the team).

A 3rd rounder is better than the return in your post though…?

A third line player is worth more than a 4th and a 6th

I really don't like the idea. Pens do not need another Right Handed winger. They need a Left Handed LW. If they are moving Marino, it better be for Miller.
