Dermotts a safe option for a third pair and has some upside because he is young. Holls abilities and cap hit just don't fit on any team. He should be making 1 mill and playing as a third pair. If he was traded 50% retained at the TDL to a playoff team that needs a 9th defenseman, you might get a 5th in return.

Right now the best thing you will get in return for Holl is future considerations. Everyone knows the leafs have zero cap space and therefore zero leverage when trading Holl, so they will have to pay to move him.

Go look up Justin Holl Steve Dangle on YouTube. Obviously they say good things about him, and its true, but they also have said multiple times he is a 3rd pair/7th defensemen. He might be a serviceable 3rd pair, but I doubt any team would pay for his 2 million cap hit to play 3rd pair/7th defensemen minutes. If its a cap dump move by Toronto, they won't get anything if he is traded right now, but if they trade him at the TDL retained, they might get a 4th or something. IDK why Columbus signed Gudbranson to 4 mill but everyone on planet earth says it was a terrible move, and its not a good comparable when everyone says its bad.
