For STL to get Tkachuk salary needs to go out, obvious candidate is Tarasenko who has requested a trade. That doesn't mean they will give him up for nothing (like Pacioretty), but for all 3 parties to get something they want, Isles jump in with their 1st to assist the return IF the Flames take Bailey back. Isles can't make the trade work otherwise. I've seen proposals where Marco Scandella goes to the Isles, that won't be happening either.
For CGY - they'll want at least one NHL roster player with some control, plus futures. Neighbors is the Blues top 1-2 prospect and Bolduc from NYI shows some promise on LD. He faces a log jam in our org because of Romanov, Salo, and Odelius all being there. Someone can shake free. This also leaves CGY with the space to chase a Kadri if they choose to. I don't know if Kyrou will be available, especially if Tarasenko is going out to NYI, but the Flames load up on futures that could be flipped for more roster players if they choose.
For NYI - opportunities to grab a legit scoring winger are drying up. Tarasenko still being there presents a nice opportunity for Lou to strike. I assume he signs an extension with NYI as part of this deal, because Lou has not traded his 1st previously (Pageau, Palmieri, Romanov) without knowing he has long term control. Shedding Bailey in the deal for cap purposes, in addition to bringing in an extended Tarasenko, is worth the 1st + prospect like Bolduc.
Latest rumor is that the ask is a top player+high end prospect+a first, so I don't think Calgary will get more than Buf did for Eichel in terms of quantity (aside from Bailey).
Based on Mike Grier’s recent comments I would watch for Isles to target Meier and/or Hertl. Lou went to scout the sharks last year. Or he just wandered off and the nursing home aid couldn’t find him.
So basically ur willing to move Bailey for Tarasenko? Lol I like it. I want to see blues fans reactions lmao.
A 1st and prospect too? Lol. It's not like the Blues are keeping any of those 3 pieces. It also allows STL to not have to part with Kyrou. I think it's a slam dunk for everyone.

What did Grier say recently? I was big on Meier. Made an ACGM about that and his $10m QO not long ago. (Before Nichols said it - screw him.)
Too much for VT91 imo, since STL getting Tkachuk basically requires he gets moved. Imo we should only be trading the 2023 1st for a young player or a star with term/RFA status

You are getting an extended Tarasenko and shedding Bailey. I would trade a 1st all day long. I'm not focusing on STL needing to move him here, Isles need to get their scorer and this is the opportunity to do it pretty cost effectively

Wait for the price to come down. If Tarasenko won’t waive for Calgary and the flames and blues need to close the deal then they lose all leverage. Then Lou swoops in and offers a one for one deal with Bailey who costs 2.5 million dollars less Lmao.

What about other teams who could potentially broker this to swoop in on VT? Or maybe STL decides to move Krug instead? Scandella dumped? I don't know, but I'm really not sure if I want to wait to find out.

I didn’t even see you moved the first tbh. Just wait for the price to come down. If Calgary and St.Louis need to close the deal Lou can give up pennies on the dollar lol.

Krug has no value. Also Tarasenko has a full NTC and his list of teams he would go to from last summer included NYI, NYR, PHI and NJD. I’d trade Beau for Tarasenko one for one but blues aren’t dealing from a position of strength.
What cap goes out to CGY in their case? Konecny++? I got the impression they were done after FA based on Fletcher's comments
I haven't fully fleshed out the idea, but I think it can be done. As for the Flyers, I'm not sure how they can be finished. They only have 11 forwards signed, and they're already right at the cap. Plus, ya know, they need help.

Teams can’t swoop in unless he’s willing to go there. Allegedly the dudes entire list of teams he would go to is located in the metro. I’d take a wait and c approach rn. Try and get the 31 year old veteran at a more reasonable price.

Could definitely see the Devils getting involved. Lets say VT goes elsewhere and Tkachuk is anywhere but NYI, then what? Who is honestly left at that point? We can project the idea of Timo Meier but it's just a guess and the music stopped without us getting a chair (yet again). I'm impatient at this point. If my deal above for VT (Tkachuk trade request aside) happened at any other point in the summer we would be saying "summer of Lou" or "GM of the year" etc. - just get it doneeeeeeeee I want something to be excited about going into next year

I’m not willing to overpay for a 31 year old. I would rather run it back then do something stupid. If the blues and Calgary want to close the deal they aren’t gonna wait for a godfather offer that will never come. Here’s my counter proposal. I’m either getting him for cheap or not doing it. He’s 31 and expiring. I’m not willing to overpay for a one year solution.

St. Louis: Tkachuck via Calgary
Calgary: Bailey + Beauvillier
NYI: Tarasenko + Valimaki
He's extended in my scenario. We can complain about signing another 30 year old but the window stays open for another 3-4 seasons easy IMO.

Hard no. He’s 31 and an extension will carry him thru mid to late 30s. I’d be interested in him but I’m not giving up a first for a Tarasenko when Pacioretty literally just got traded for futures. You have to look at the market and what has happened recently. Also if you trade a first you risk giving up a high pick in a very deep draft class.
