Description
Note: I traded for Barbashev instead of Tarasenko because the Tarasenko contract is too expensive. I think Kochetkov is ready as an NHL backup goaltender because he won the Calder Cup this summer. I think he would be alright to start games against weaker opponents. Hopefully this is a bit better. I also increased the salaries of Klingberg, Necas, and Motte as was suggested to me.

I just can’t see the Canes trading their captain while trying to win a cup, especially with retention. And that’s quite the overpay for Barbashev, Klingberg is no longer needed with Burns. Not sure why Jarvis is on the 4th line.

I do agree that Kochetkov is ready but they will likely give him a full season in the AHL and then he’ll be the starter when Andersen and Raanta’s contracts expire next summer.

Staal’s contract is too large for the value he gives to the team. Would be sad to see him go as captain, but I think Aho can fill his shoes for sure! I added Klingberg still in an effort to make the best D corps in the league. Barbashev has definitely proven himself as an excellent point-getting forward, and would fit in perfectly to boost the scoring on our second line. I think the price might be a bit high, but I feel that the return will definitely be worth it in a deep run for the cup this season

Merrill doesn’t have that level of value. Why are trading for Leivo, we just let him go?

Klingberg is over. 0 reason to bog ourselves down with that contract after getting burns. Klingberg wouldn’t take that deal anyways

His deal expires after this season, and RBA always raves about how valuable he is to the team and what he provides that doesn’t show up on the scoresheet. He isn’t going anywhere

As for Klingberg, they just don’t need him. They have to re-sign Aho, Teuvo, Jarvis and Pesce in 2 years and having all that money tied up in a guy they don’t need doesn’t help. They didn’t trade for Burns to have him on the 3rd pair. There’s a reason Klingberg is still a UFA

    That's almost perfect for Necas

Klingberg is kind of pointless after the Burns acquisition, but I like the contract shape.

That is still a lot for Barbashev. I'd expect Tarasenko back for anything involving that 1st rounder, with retention would make him very affordable.

    Gardiner deal is alright.

The Merril trade... I get you like him, but I wouldn't do Staal's full cap hit alone for him. Bear for Merril and a pick? Sure, that might be better. But I think you're adding to the wrong side here.

I'd also just keep Raanta for next year. Kochetkov isn't NHL ready and we saw that in the playoffs. He lost game 7, he lost both games he started. He won game 2 against Boston, but that was when Boston couldn't score in a brothel.

Burns is also just better than Klingberg right now. He might not be in a year or two, but at this momeny, Burns shouldn't be bottom pairing.

All in all, a lot better, but still not great. I appreciate you're still learning, and don't give up. But this is still rough, but like a good prospect, there are signs of growth.

I'll tell ya the same thing as last time. First of all, the Blues are not trading Barby in a deal that adds cap. That's simply not happening. Secondly, the Blues have zero use for Raanta or Fast, especially at their cap hits. You need to think about what the Blues would want, not want you want to get rid of.

Anaheim say swap in Philly's 2023 third and you've got a deal.
