With Minnesota in a cap crunch

Created by: ChrisNapoleon
Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 23, 2022
Published: Jul. 23, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In this deal, Boldy signs an extension (6x 6.5 million) with the Island and Bellows sinces a short term extension with the Wild. Saves Minnesota cap due to the Parise/Suter buyouts

Greenway is put into the deal to help their cap problem and serves as a third liner for us
Another 2nd round pick is interchangeable imo for the Minnesota deal

Usually, when I do ACGMs, i usually trade away Bailey but I think he's staying for at least another season, same with Palms (as much I don't like them both)

Other:
Barzal signs an extension (8 x 9.5 million), Wahlstrom signs a bridge deal (4 x 3.75 million)

Trade away Bailey at trade deadline for capital

And they would laugh at this offer.

Really don’t even understand the logic in that Minnesota trade? Like genuinely explain why they would make that move to me and why it would make sense

Boldy gets a bridge deal from the Wild before the year is out, he is far too critical to their success and to navigating their cap problems to be considered in any trade

Yeah I love Boldy. I’m getting desperate for Barzal to have an elite winger in his prime years, I just want Wahlström to explode next season and I pray for Lambert letting them build chemistry together for extended time, both 5v5 and on pp1. What else is there to hope for at this point. Beau - Barzal - Whally could be a very fun line and I think they complement each other theoretically really well.

You’d think they would put young players in a position to succeed considering they can’t sign a quality UFA. The islanders need to focus on development , not plugging holes with 30 year old has beens

Do people like the user think before posting this troll proposal? Yeah wild are going to trade good, cheap young players for one and nothing. Got it. Apparently according to you, greenway is a cap dump. Boldy, an elc 65 point player gets traded for more expensive player, and nothing but AHL prospect, and nobody

Absolutely. They simply cannot afford to trade away the 2023 1st rounder for the 4th straight year (!) for a J.T. Miller, Vladimir Tarasenko or Patrick Kane, if Lou does that I don’t know if I can handle it tbh lol. It’s crazy if you think about it, Lou was gifted Aatu Räty at 52 even if the trade for the pick was great ofc, Simon Holmström was a late 2nd round talent imo when he was picked and still is. Samuel Bolduc was hyped one training camp, but I’ll be surprised if he’s more than a 6D at best. William Dufour could be the next Clutterbuck I guess, so very nice value as a 5th-rounder, I love George and Odelius upside, but that’s it. Finley is young and have pretty good tools I guess, so that’s at least something. I can’t imagine Iskhakov to be given a chance on the Island regardless tbh, that signing was more about Lou refusing to give up value for free as he was a 2nd-rounder, more than anything else imo. Same with Golyshev, I don’t think he really thought he was going to make it, but it was his last chance to sign a drafted player with value, and I like that with Lou.

I was down on Bolduc even when he was putting up good numbers in BPT.

The only 2 players I’m very high on is Raty and Odelius. I thought Odelius should have been picked in the 1st rd. He compared his play style to Devon Toews which is funny because it’s true and that was COL 2nd rd pick. At worst Odelius will be a 2nd pair D, to get someone with a floor like that in the round is great.

Lou might be gone in a year or 2 so Iskhakov might have a shot lol. He’s the biggest wildcard, he has an elite skillset and has produced at a solid rate but with his skills you’d think he could produce a lot more. He has middle upside

Same here, Bolduc has zero hockey-iq, he’s so frustating to watch lol, his tools are great but that’s about it. I love Odelius and thought he was a lock at 25-ish.. I’ve watched and read a lot of Isaiah George since we picked him, I gotta say I love his game, I think he will make huge strides this season and could be a steal also, incredible tools all-around.

Yeah true about Iskhakov, he’s been rather unlucky with injuries last couple of years too..

Odelius is superfun to watch and do look very like-ish Toews, absolutely fantastic skater, a bit arrogant sometimes though because he knows his skating is so good that he has a tendency to cheat lol.
