Canes shut this down very quickly. The fact you've got him on the 1st line should tell you he's worth more than a good but not great prospect in Sokolov and a 2nd in a draft 2 years from now. I don't see the pieces to make this work for both sides. I think Pinto, Brannstrom, 2024 1st (top X protected)... I know that's a lot, but he's valued very highly in Carolina. Can play RW or C (wants to move back to C FWIW), all 3 situations up and down the lineup, and put up 40 points despite being demoted to the 4th line. He was the fastest skater in the NHL this past season, and he's got hands to keep up. I think for Necas, it's much more likely he's used to go and get someone like Kane at the deadline. This doesn't work for either team involved.

Maybe so but he has no contract and the Canes don't have much money... they will never get that much

Thats a LOT to give for Necas but i get what you're saying. Canes wouldn't want to trade him unless they get an offer that blows them away. At this point, unless they were looking to get a top player, they aren't just gonna get rid of him without some serious value coming back. I'd rather just bridge him and hope he bounces back.

Canes have enough money to protect against an offer sheet. The offer sheet would have to be in the 6+ million dollar range for us to even consider not matching.

4 million currently with the option to save another 1.1 to 2.9 million by burying or buying out Gardiner.

Canes aren’t moving Necas for futures unless those futures are flipped for a roster upgrade

Can’t see canes consider that. Canes have money to make it work unless you OS around 6.5-7+. I doubt any team really does that so trad would be more likely route. But a trade would likely come in the form of a Necas package to upgrade - similar to what they were reportedly trying to do for MT.

Canes have enough to bring Necas back and flush the roster out. They're not that tied up. They won't sell him below value. It's going to take a LOT to make the Canes move on from a 23 year old C/RW that's team controlled for the foreseeable future.
