Anaheim needs no assistance reaching the floor. We either take on bad contracts packaged WITH picks, or we go sign someone in free agency.

Can see Lindgren moved at some point...but right now is a bit premature...the depth you speak of is unproven. If Robertson emerges AND either Lundqvist or Jones fits as an adequate 3LD- then Lindgren can be moved. My guess is he's probably here for at least this year....but could be traded as soon as Christmas. As far as a destination for him... I think the most likely would be a contender - or a team looking to push themselves into contention (maybe LA??). Don't think a team in full rebuild mode would really benefit losing assets to take on Lindgren.

Plus, it's the wrong team. Arizona has no chance in the West. They may spend a little to make more at the deadline. If Lindgren had term, then maybe...

you traded Ryan Lindgren for no apparent reason. your roster is one player too large, move any defensemen to the minors and NYR can afford Lindgren (at least for '22-'23)

Actually are a few reasons to move Lindgren:
1. IF Robertson emerges- with his size and skillset, he's the guy NYR will want to commit to as 2 or 3 LD
2. Miller /Fox is the eventual top pair for NYR going well into the future
3. Lindgren is -no doubt- a warrior. Plays hard, physical, and plays through pain. But only a matter of time before his body is way older than his age.
4. Lindgren's value is probably at its height right now. Even though they really can't move him just yet, hopefully when the other pieces fall into place across their D, his value will still be at or near where it is right now. While (due to wear and tear from his style of play) he probably doesn't project as a long term 1LD, he certainly has plenty of value as a 2 or 3 LD on any team. And if Robertson doesn't emerge- that might be his role going forward with NYR. Nils Lundqvist might also have a say on this if he's given a chance AND proves to be up to playing the left side.

Your premise of moving the Rangers current 2nd best defensemen, with 2 years of affordable term, because a kid might be as good as him is flawed. If Lindgren has to be moved to afford Laf/Miller, then it's next offseason after 82 games of seeing if Robertson/Jones/Lundkvist are worth a damn.

No...I wouldn't move Lindgren if Robertson MIGHT be better- I'd only move him if 2 of Robertson, Lundqkvist, or Jones are really pushing the lineup and showing they deserve big minutes. For sure this is a big ask, and not very likely to enable a trade of Lindgren during next season. As far as his affordable term- just because he's on a good contract doesn't mean he's affordable for NYR. Unfortunately, because of his contract ($ and term), he is one of the few moveable players...and something's gonna have to give next year for LaF, Chytl, and Miller to get extensions....and a boatload of others will also be looking for a new contract. They will not cut the team short by trading Lindgren before his replacement is really ready though...but if one of the 3 are ready to take the reigns, NYR should be able to get more of a haul if they trade him sooner than later.
