Can't bring much in when eberle contract kills him but I don't think it's to bad really both need to move on an Tavares gets his right winger. Who else do you think the isles should add then ?

Well for Eberle i think it would take another top 6 forward/ a top 4 defenseman. You know how on people's favourite teams there's usually at least 1 player that they really think is overrated? Well on the Islanders that guy is Josh Bailey. not a defensive player.

You do realize we will need cap space to sign Mcdavid an eberle co tract gets in the way with that. Plus this team frees up cap space to sigh another play like cam Atkinson

That's eberle to though. I don't think he will net much of a return an I loved the guy but his value is slowly depreciating

I think the Islanders would accept that (even w/o the draft pick). I just made another mock myself and came up with Nelson/Toews for Eberle. Think that helps both sides

Yeah honestly that's a better return I was just being a bit more realistic then other oiler fans on here who think eberle will net us a top 2 d man haha. He just doesn't work with our new system but I like your trade man

Interesting idea for Nugent-Hopkins. I doubt your Oilers are willing to eat 2M for the remainder of his contract though. Montreal would have to have this space open, which isn't impossible.

Jones doesn't do much for the Wild. He's another LHD to fight for icetime in Iowa with Reilly/Olofsson. I liked him on the U20 team last season.

Wild would still lose Scandella in the expansion draft. So they would be down 2 top-4 dmen, and a top-6 wing for next season, and no immediate help coming back. Not good team management from the Wild point of view. The Wild aren't a rebuilding team, and need the $4.5m combined cap hit for Zucker/Dumba to make their cap work.

That's true. I just would love to see dumba on the oilers an maybe it's best to keep Jones for our future

I think you're right with the 1st thrown in is the only way Vegas takes Pouliot. I doubt Chia does that though. Leaving only 1 top 3 round picks in the next two years is nuts.
I think you're over valuing RNH, if MTL moves BG the return will need to be a centre that's better than 42% at the dot I would think.
Lastly if you make those trades prior to expansion as you've shown, that leaves them protecting Luc, drai, maroon, gallager, zucker and bailey. Dumba, Klef, Larsson correct? That exposes Letestu, Russell and Kassian, any of which would be a better pick for LV than Pouliot so even the 1st thrown in isn't enough IMO.

I enjoyed looking at your scenario, its creative. Thanks

Alright you asked for thoughts, so here with go. I believe Kris Russel signed a 1 year $3.1 million deal, so based on his performance, especially in the playoffs, I think it would take at least $4 million to get him locked up and he will want some term. That Draisaitl contract would be a huge win for the Oilers in terms of AAV but I think they'd want to go 8 years. I feel like a realistic contract would be 8 years at $7.5 million AAV. Minnesota may be in a squeeze but I don't think there's any way they make that deal without Tyler Benson included. Perhaps Benson, Caggiula and a 2017 1st rounder would do it? Finally, I feel you are overvaluing RNH based on his production and salary, so I don't think even with retaining some salary RNH nets you that pot of gold.

Pouliot gone, Fayne, and Korpikoski will be be off the books. That's $8,625,000, relax. Oil got a another season before the heavy math starts.
